reply When trying to connect my iPhone via USB I get the error: Unable to Mount Brads iPhone: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus) I searched on google and came to a Mandriva thread and the solution was because the user had 4G of RAM the install attempted to run/use the server repositories/files instead of the desktops. Could this be a possibility with Linux? smb shares on EL6 Issues related to applications and software problems Post Reply Print view Search Advanced search 6 posts • Page http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5368 1 of 1 ohw0571 Posts: 124 Joined: 2008/10/05 12:24:17 [RESOLVED] mounting smb shares on EL6 Quote Postby ohw0571 » 2012/02/20 15:59:25 Hello, trying to mount an smb share (samba server on CentOS 5.7) on my EL 6.2 machine (fully patched), I am observing very strange behaviour:1. It seems that firewall settings need to be modified even on error retrieving the smb client, so the following assumes the firewall is offline for testing purposes2. Places > Network *invariably* fails with this error message - but only the first time after login:Code: Select allCould not display "network:///".
Error: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include:
the remote application did not send a reply, error retrieving accessibility the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply
timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Trying the same a second time results in a window containing a "Windows Network" icon (more or less as expected)Very intriguingly, however, I never see any of my linux/unix machines in the network window !! Does visibility here depend on some (non-default) network setting, or is this a bug after all?3. With the above limitations, I can browse the workgroup, find my samba server and see at least one of its shares. Double-clicking on this share results in "Unable to mount share". Of course, it is protected by a password, but according to Redhat's documentation, I should be prompted for it at this point!4. In contrast, accessing a share explicitly via the "Connect to server" item has always worked for me Maybe someone could comment on these issues...Thanks in advanceOliver Top pschaff Retired Moderator Posts: 18276 Joined: 2006/12/13 20:15:34 Location: Tidewater, Virginia, No
