What is causing this?
This can be caused by Microsoft's SMTP service starting up and binding to the mail ports before MDaemon is able to do so. This may occureither after installing IIS and selecting the Simple Mail Transport Protocol service orafter a reboot if that service is installed and not disabled. The Simple Mail Transport Service will start and bind to the SMTP port, which will prevent MDaemon from being able to receive SMTP mail. Users may receive an error that the server does not allow relaying. To determine if the Microsoft SMTP service is started on the MDaemon server, open a command prompt and type: Telnet 127.0.0.1 25 Press Enter andif the response contains 'ESMTP Microsoft...' the problem is that the Microsoft SMTP service is running. To disable the service, follow these steps: Click on Start Click on Settings Click on Control Panel Click on Administrative Tools Click on Services Locate Simple Mail Transport Protocol Right clickMDaemon Messaging Server MDaemon Private Cloud SecurityPlus AntiVirus for MDaemon Outlook Connector for MDaemon SecurityGateway for Email Servers RelayFax Network Fax Manager MailStore Archive Server Purchase MDaemon Messaging Server SecurityPlus AntiVirus for MDaemon Outlook Connector for MDaemon ActiveSync for MDaemon SecurityGateway for Email Servers RelayFax Network Fax Manager MailStore Archive Server MailStore Upgrade/Renewal eLearning Technical Support Agreement Upgrade/Renew Licensing Overview Referral Program Downloads MDaemon Messaging Server SecurityPlus AntiVirus for MDaemon Outlook Connector for MDaemon BlackBerry for MDaemon SecurityGateway for Email Servers RelayFax Network Fax Manager MailStore http://www.altn.com/Support/FAQ/FAQResults/?Number=KBA-01507 Archive Server Support Request Support Literature Knowledge Base Product FAQs Product Web Help eLearning Video Of The Month Webinars Community Forums Beta Group Alt-N's Blog Alt-N's Idea Engine Technical Support Agreement Phone Support Blog Partners Technology Partners MDaemon Hosted Email Providers Find A Partner Become A Partner Partner Portal Security Threat Center Company Management Press Room Associations Policies http://lists.altn.com/WebX/.5986110f and EULA Careers Contact Us Alt-N Discussion Groups > MDaemon Discussion Groups > MDaemon Support > Archive > [md-support] Mail list in MDaemon 15.0.0 Alt-N Discussion Groups MDaemon Discussion Groups MDaemon Support Archive [md-support] Mail list in MDaemon 15.0.0 julio.rios@amic… Newbie Posts: 11 julio.rios@amic.es - 08:09am, Mar 20 2015 Hello I have got MDaemon in 15 version. get "550 Sorry, bob@zensoftware.co.uk (headers) is not... Why do I get "550 Sorry, bob@zensoftware.co.uk (headers) is not allowed to send mail to listname@zensoftware.co.uk" when sending to a MDaemon list that isn''t private? Question: Why do I get "550 Sorry, bob@zensoftware.co.uk (headers) is not allowed to send mail to listname@zensoftware.co.uk" when sending to a MDaemon list that isn't private? Answer: In some cases if you create a MDaemon list (or edit an existing MDaemon list) and removethe private status by unticking "Only list members can post to this list" then you can find that despite this changesit's still not possible for email addresses that aren't already on the list to successfully send email to it. Usually this is because the editing you performed on the list was either done via WebAdmin or a "configuration" session of the MDaemon Interface and the change to "Only list members can post to this list" hasn't been adopted by the main MDaemon Interface. To ascertain if this is the cause of the issue either via direct access to MDaemon or via a RDP session that connects to the console session of the MDaemon machine check that Lists -> Edit Lists -> {listname} -> Settings -> "Only list members can post to this list" is definately unticked in the main MDaemon Interface and if it isn't untick it and this should resolve the issue. For full details regarding how to RDP to the console session of a Windows machine please see http://www.zensoftware.co.uk/kb/article.aspx?id=10122
