motion but I can't get it to work. Im acessing my pi via local IP. SSH, VNC and apache works, but motion simply doesn't. I've already changed the ports at /etc/motion/motion.conf to lots of different numbers but none of them work. I've found this command: sudo motion -n When I run this, I get this message: "Problem enabling stream server in port 7043: Address already in use" I get this for every port I try. Always when I configure a new motion mmal port and run netstat -lnutp this port appears in the list and its marked as 'LISTEN'. I try to access but nothing happens. Does my camera need to work to motion at least appears when I try 192.168.1.x:7043? Can't I at least see the server running, even if the camera doesn't work? I'm using a microsoft USB camera, which appears to work with the rPi. Feb 2016 17:42:35 -0500 User-agent: Opera Mail/12.17 (Win64) Hello guys, I'm trying to setup a composite video camera capture with EasyCap DC60 USB2.0 capture device on Seagate DockStar running ArchLinux ARM, stk1160 driver, and Motion. Can't get any pic, only errors, while it works perfect in Windows. Didn't try running on a Linux PC, since the task is to run it on Linux ARM. Motion at start up gives: Nov 27 19:03:00 alarm motion[435]: [1] Selected palette UYVY Nov http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/29259/cant-access-motion-server 27 19:03:00 alarm motion[435]: [1] Test palette UYVY (360x240) Nov 27 19:03:00 alarm motion[435]: [1] Error setting pixel format VIDIOC_S_FMT: Device or resource busy Nov 27 19:03:00 alarm motion[435]: [1] VIDIOC_TRY_FMT failed for format UYVY: Device or resource busy Nov 27 19:03:00 alarm motion[435]: [1] Unable to find a compatible palette format. me with blank images t4thfavorFebruary 9th, 2010, 07:37 PMI have 2 webcams installed on my ubuntu server, I have used them both in the past, both on Linux and https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1402745.html Windows. Currently I have tried webcam-server, and motion. The output is a blank image. It looks like the brightness is set all the way up or something. I have a logitech QuickCam express (looks like https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneyeos/issues/50 a ball) and a 3com homeconnect (old) #lsusb Bus 004 Device 002: ID 04c1:009d U.S. Robotics (3Com) HomeConnect WebCam [vicam] Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:0920 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Express I have published the error setting site so you all can see what it looks like. http://fultonit.net:8081 I took this down since the same thing happens with fswebcam Can anyone give me any ideas on why it doesn't work when it used to. Does it have something to do with the v4l2 driver, I believe it used to work with the older v4l driver. hwttdzFebruary 9th, 2010, 07:45 PMWhen I use fswebcam I have to error setting pixel throw out the first n frames otherwise it appears severly overexposed. I'm not sure how to get live webcams (mine just snaps a photo every few seconds). t4thfavorFebruary 9th, 2010, 07:53 PMThat's really all i'm looking for, is a snap every second or two, but all of them look like they are grey blank images. There are 500 some in the tmp/motion folder, and they all look the same. hwttdzFebruary 9th, 2010, 07:58 PMHere's my fswebcam config: log /home/$user/public_html/webcamlog.txt #log /dev/null device /dev/video0 skip 10 jpeg 80 #deinterlace resolution 1600x1200 no-banner set "Sharpness"=200 #set "White Balance Temperature, Auto"=False set "White Balance Temperature, Auto"=True set "Backlight Compensation"=0 set "Brightness"=130 set "Contrast"=32 #32 is default set "Saturation"=28 #28 is default frames 1 #frames 255 #loop 1 save /home/$user/public_html/output.jpg And I do essentially while [ 1 ]; do fswebcam --config ~/path_to_config_file done You'll have to modify the options for your webcam, but you should get the gist of it. t4thfavorFebruary 9th, 2010, 08:10 PMThis is what the output from fswebcam, Same as the output on the website. I think this is a problem with the v4l2 driver. I guess I will have to delve deeper into that unless someone else knows how to fix it. Thanks, hwttdzFebruary 9th, 2

I wouldn't know what to do about this. Does it work on Raspbian with motion? L3o-pold commented Dec 2, 2015 Yes it works but I will try with a longer test session. The camera works out of the box by the way. L3o-pold commented Dec 6, 2015 Looks like activating Automatic Brightness for the Phillips cam fix the issue. It think that the cam timeout after some inactivity and the automatic brightness option keeps it alive. I noticed that when the cam crash, you can restart the stream by pressing the top button (the button is supposed to take a picture), and you don't need to restart the Rasp.
