XP and Office use way too much memory to be using only 256mb. Since you are getting a memory error, you are having trouble shutting down because all the memory and/or CPU is being used when the error is occuring. As for the memory error, try following the instructions in this link. http://www.infohq.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=4&topic=181. Windows, however, works if the error box is not closed. The 'Memory address could not error windows be read' error happens because of issues related to hardware problems in RAM memory or if the hard disk reaches its optimum level. If the PC is affected with viruses or if the OS update fails to work properly, these type of errors are generated. The management of applications run by the system must also be checked to avoid this issue. Occasionally I get an error dialog box that says that "Svchost.exe could not write to memory location xxxxxxx". I don't get this error everytime I shut down just about 4 times out of 10. I am using Win XP Home Edition w/SP2, AMD Athlon w/2GB RAM in an HP Pavillion a720n desktop. Any ideas of what to look for, or what is happening? I did a search for the file name 'svchost.exe' and had three locations: SVCHOST.EXE-3530F672.pf in C:\Windows\prefetch svchost in C:\Windows\system32 svchost in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\dd9ab5193501484cf5e6884fa1d22f9e Thanks, JPKirkpatrick JPKirkpatrick View Public Profile Send a private message to JPKirkpatrick Visit JPKirkpatrick's homepage!
