have checked with Microsoft and tried the tips on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318718 but yet to resolve the issue. You will find that tips are indeed mentioning that basically it is either a security issue or a networking issue. You will be advised one or more of the followings (about the properties of your dial-up connection): Under Security options, click Allow unsecured password in the Validate my identity as follows box Under https://forums.att.com/t5/Wireless-2013-Archive/Connection-Manager-Error-734/td-p/630336 Networking/Settings options, to clear the Negotiate multi-link for single link connections Under Networking/Settings options, to clear the Enable LCP extensions You have tried all of those but still failed to connect and the same message appears at the end of the dial up attempt when it is just about attempting to register your pc on https://myonecent.wordpress.com/2010/09/03/error-734-ppp-link-control-protocol-was-terminated/ the network. The very error is of course - Error 734: PPP Link Control Protocol was Terminated. To access this properties from the control panel double click on "Phone and Modem Options". Select your Modem and click on "Advanced" tab. In the extra initialization commands correctly enter the appropriate string. Below are some examples of dial-strings. Check that the Access Point Name (the last part, e.g. "internet.com" as shown below) in the dial-string corresponds to the Access Point Name of the network provider. Rogers: +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet.com" Cingular Blue/AT&T: +cgdcont=1,"IP","proxy" Cingular Orange: +cgdcont=1,"IP","ISP.CINGULAR" UK Vodafone: +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet" SwissCom: +cgdcont=1,"IP","gprs.swisscom.ch" T-Mobile NL: +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet","",0,0 Like this:Like Loading... I cant remember them now and can the asked to search for it, it also needs to match your provider settings, eg vodofone? at&t? o2? so you can do it.. Also you need to either dial *99# or *99*1# , depends on the phone. Windows 7 Does this automatically, pretty impressive. –ppumkin Jan 23 '12 at 16:43 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote You can't simply connect to the Internet using your phone.
