These servers both are running on Windows Server 2003 and have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 installed. They are in a virtual dasd environment. I feel that these errors are similar to that of a previous post: techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-37299-Event-ID-1003.html Here are a event id 1003 couple samples of the errors I've been getting: Event Type: Error Event Source: System Error Event Category: (102) Event ID: 1003 Date: 5/1/2008 Time: 2:59:56 PM User: N/A Computer: NTSMGSS15109G Description: Error code 00000050, parameter1 bad0b148, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 809338fc, parameter4 00000000. Join Now One of our 2003 servers has an intermittent BSOD (sometimes once a month, sometimes once a week), with stop code 0x0000050, Page Fault in Nonpaged Area. This server runs a SQL database and not much else. I have run the dump file through a viewer, which reports that the issue may be with one of hal.dll (version 5.2.3790.3959) ntkrnlpa.exe (version 5.2.3790.4922) win32k.sys (version 5.2.3790.4938) I am pretty sure this is not a hardware issue, as the server was migrated P2V around 6 months ago, but has been doing this for a couple of years (due to the fact it is intermittent and was set to automatically recover it went unnoticed!), so it is now on a completely different hardware platform to before. I have found the following 2 technet articles http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978243
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981471 which both discuss similar circumstances to ours, however both of the hotfixes mentioned contain file versions prior to the ones we are currently running. Hmmmmm? Anyone got any ideas where to go next with this? Thanks in advance. Just wondering what anyone else would try next? 0 Ghost Chili OP Kelly Armitage Feb 8, 2012 at 11:04 UTC I'd try sfc /scannow Or possibly re-create the server with issues pointing to the core of Windows server itself..... I'd agree it really shouldn't be hardware at this point. I am assuming you have done the standard virus/malware checks..... checked the event viewer for relevant entries for that time frame....... I think in this case I would be tempted to nuke and pave..... 0 Jalapeno OP Phase K Feb 8, 2012 at 11:21 UTC Haven't tried the sfc, might give that a go. All virus definitions etc are up to date, checked for malware etc etc. Nothing in the event viewer prior to the BS, and only a 6008 (unexpected shutdown), 1001 (save dump) and 1003 (System error) written post logging back in. 0 Chipotle OP EdwardCT Feb 8, 2012 at 11:29 UTC have you tried reseating/replacing the RAM? Has it been happening more or the same amount? 0 Jalapeno OP Phase K Feb 8, 2012 at 11:33 UTC I'm 99.9% sure
