As per Ashish this event is often caused by a hardware failure or antivirus software scanning of the database file directory. To resolve this error, do one or more of the following: Restore the database from backup. A bad page link error signifies logical corruption at the ESE level in the database, and it is not safe to continue using the database. The restore must be performed using a backup that was taken before this error occurred. If you do not have a backup that was taken before the error occurred, try to repair the database. For example, you can perform a hard repair, run isinteg -fix, and then use ExMerge on the database. Make sure that you have properly configured your antivirus software. A particular example of this type of corruption is a situation when the index entries refer to missing values. It may also happen at the application level causing damage to your mailboxes, folders, messages, or attachments. Logical corruption occurs either in the http://www.stellarservertools.com/exchange-error-327.php Information store or database engine, resulting in some serious damage to your Exchange mailbox data. In a similar case of logical corruption, you may encounter Exchange Server error 327 or 'JET_errBadPageLink' on your screen. In addition to this, you may receive the below error in your Windows Application log: 'MSExchangeIS ((###)) The database engine found a bad page.' A 'bad page link' may be caused by a severe disk crash or a bug in Exchange. This is also seen when you try to replay incorrect transaction log files after restoring your database from a backup. In order to fix this issue, you can follow any of the given resolutions: Take the most recent full online backup before the time you receive the above error in your Application log and use it to restore your Exchange Server database. Replay the log files after restoring from the tape backup. Now, use 'ExMerge' tool to export all the data of user mailboxes and import it back to a newly created mailbox store. Use 'EDBUTIL /D' to perform an offline defrag. This may delete the bad page link from your database. Run the Exchange Administrator program and try to move al

Notice that the error is occuring for both the priv1.edb and pub1.edb. These errors are found right after the system tries to run an online defrag, but the online defrag fails and these errors come next. We had an issue with a hard drive failure about 2-3 months ago, but that hard drive was replaced immediately with a new one. There was also anti-virus software running on the server that does automatic scanning, but I have since disabled the software incase that is what is causing the problem. This issue is also causing the overall SBS backup that runs every night to fail with the error "Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group is not a valid drive, or you do not have access." by Bill, Feb 10, 2007. Bill Guest Runnin SBS 2003 Pro. The other day we noticed that outgoing emails are delivered without their attachments. Event Viewer was logging a sea of th following errors: Date: date Source: ESE Time: time Category: Database Corruption Type: Error Event ID: 447 User: N/A Computer: Servername Description: Information Store (nnnn) A bad page link (error -338) has been detected in a B-Tree (ObjectId: 70950, PgnoRoot: 157120) of database e:\Program Files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb (157120 => 296404, 296403). I was able repair the databae using the steps from MS from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810190, which also solved the disappearing attachment issue. However, the ESE errors continue, and although at this time we are able to use email to its full functionality, clearly the problem continues. MS lists the following as possible causes. .. Disk caching has not committed transactions to the hard disk and the server has stopped responding (crashed). . Incorrect log files were replayed during a database restoration. .. The server has a defective hard disk controller. As for possible disk problems, I ran CheckDisk which revealed no problems at tha level, and I would appreciate tips on troubleshooting the rest, before the situation gets worse. Thank you, Bill Bill, Feb 10, 2007 #1 Advertisements Jacky Luo [MSFT] Guest Hi Bill, Thanks for posting here. From the description, I understand the issue is that you still got the ESE errors in event viewer after you have repaired the exchange database and you are able to use email to its full functionality. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know. I am not sure how you repaired your exchange database, maybe you just use eseutil and isinteg to repair the database, but in your current situation, I suggest that you use Exchange Mailbox Merge utility (Exmerge) to export the data from the database, to create a new database, and then to import the data into it. It will create a new priv1.edb database file. The detailed steps have been listed in the KB article as you mentioned before. Then please restart all exchange related
