Gaming Smartphones Tablets Windows 8 PSUs Android Your question Get the answer Tom's Hardware>Forum>Storage>ATAPI Errors> Solved ATAPI Errors Tags: Hard Drives Storage Last response: 25 February 2016 06:04 in Storage Share xxx666yyy777 28 July 2011 03:21:43 Hello there - i just recently event viewer error 7001 encountered ATAPI errors in my Win 7 event viewer. The errors say "The driver detected event viewer error codes list a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2.". At the same time, transfer rates to the hdd in question became very slow. I ran chkdsk event viewer error 36888 /f /r - no issues reported. I also ran the SeaTools for Windows tool - no SMART errors, short tests show also no issues. Currently running the check from EASUS Partition Manager - so far everything green, however, https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/8fb4411e-473d-40b7-b8ef-6d64b4e980a1/disk-error-11?forum=winservergen at the same time, the errors in the even viewer keep showing up (while EASUS is running surface check and reporting everything as green...) Any ideas, what the problem could be? Thx. More about : atapi errors Best solution John_VanKirk a c 106 G Storage 29 July 2011 00:57:51 Hi there, Couple things to check: Double click on the Event Viewer error (is this a red exclamation point error?) and it will bring up a http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/271734-32-atapi-errors an event properties box. That has an online help link which may give you more specific information about the error. Also, could there be another HDD or Device on this IDePort2 that is not being checked, since you mention transfer rates from another device. Check the BIOS to see what is on Port 2. A very good testing program is HD Tune (free edition) or HD Tune Pro, which gives you Disk Health Info, S.M.A.R.T. parameters, and you can test the file data transfer rates across the disk. Here's the link www.hdtune.com And if there is any concern about the controller chip on the MB, rather than the HDD itself, consider downloading the latest chipset drivers from the MB website. Share xxx666yyy777 1 August 2011 10:00:28 Thanks - HDTune did indeed help me solve the problem. It reported a warning related to a SMART factor that could indicate a bad cable. I checked the MB and the cable in question was indeed loose. After resetting it, no more atapi problems! Its a shame that neither the Seagate nor WD tools reported that issue and showed the SMART status always as green... In this case, the error is likely associated with a USB drive attached to the server. There is no authoritative list of USB drives compatible event viewer error with different versions of Windows Server; however, the Windows Small Business Server (SBS) team has compiled a list of USB drives and the degree to which they function with SBS. It can be assumed that a drive which is compatible with a particular version of SBS will also be compatible with the corresponding version of Windows Server, as they are built upon the same kernel. Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the servers. read more... Event ID: 11 Source: Disk Source: Disk Type: Error Description:The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 English: This information is only available to subscribers. An example of English, please! Comments: Sf4000 We had it due to failing battery on PERC 6/i. Changed Write Policy from Write Back to Write Through - the event stopped popping up. P.S. The Write Through Policy was a temporary solution till the new controller battery has arrived. x 233 Anonymous I've had three of these errors pop up on our Level Platforms alerts. One of them I was able to find the cause by simply installing Dell OpenManager Server Administrator and taking a look at the storage. The firmware driver was out of date. That would be a good first place to start. The other two alerts did not have a similar find. x 309 W4tch3r I am getting this error using multiple drives in a Shintaro USB3 drive caddy. After lots of drive and cable swapping I have discovered it happens because I have the drive caddy plugged into a Noontec USB3 hub. When I bypass the hub and go straight to the PC it does not happen. I do not know yet if the problem is with the Noontec hub or the Shintaro drive dock. x 315 Alexander Freudenberg In certain conditions, this error message is related to the S.M.A.R.T attribute 187 (Reported uncorrectable errors).
