on ubuntu evolution 2.30, i can acces thru OWA but wen come to Evolution i get this error "Could not configure Exchange account because an unknown error occurred. I think the complication is the that the OWA url is https://owa[...]. I am able to connect with Android phones, iPhones, etc., but I can't do it with Evolution. I was able to get calendar and mail to sync properly. Some interesting things I had to do: For server I had to use the IP address of the Exchange server I had to use the Exchange MAPI as server type, if you're using Exchange 2003 or lower the Microsoft Exchange plugin will work fine. share|improve this answer answered Aug 11 '10 at 15:18 Marco Ceppi♦ 31k20132180 Useing the IP address rather than the URL did not work, Still gives: Could not configure Exchange account because an unknown error occurred. The little Mini has network connectivity and runs Outlook Web Access fine from Firefox. But when i try to connect using Evolution, no matter what I do it says Exchange Server Offline. I have a few noob questions: 1) Do I use just my regular username, domain\user, or domain/user under the Exchange account in Evolution? 2) Under mailbox should I use my user name or my full name (which is what shows under Outlook on a Windows box)? 3) I am pretty sure I got the URL right. I just copied and pasted from Firefox. Firefox works fine with Outlook Web access. But is there any known issue on the Exchange server that would prevent Evolution from working, even if OWA is running OK? all I'm struggling to make the evolution-mapi plugin work in Jaunty. Don't know if this topic has been covered in other threads 'cause i looked for this several times and I've always found partial/unsolved bug reports. Here is the problem: 1- I'm trying to connect with an exchange 2007 server with mapi 2- The mapi plugin loads correctly in evolution 3- After configuring the server parameter and clicking on "authenticate" to check the credentials the whole evolution crashes with a segfault This happens always, even after several pakage updates, including samba4 on which the plugin is based. The exchange server works, the connection parameters are ok, mapi is enabled on the server. Are there any other thigs I should check? But, most important: somebody has got it working somewhere???
