I think the complication is the that the OWA url is https://owa[...]. I am able to connect with Android phones, iPhones, etc., but I can't do it with Evolution. Is there a way to make this work? evolution ms-exchange share|improve this question edited May 4 '12 http://askubuntu.com/questions/1942/how-can-evolution-connect-to-exchange-via-the-owa-connector at 17:21 belacqua 13.1k116595 asked Aug 11 '10 at 14:33 Stuart 7831410 1 What version of Exchange server is this? <= 2003 or > 2003? –Marco Ceppi♦ Aug 11 '10 at 15:17 Exchange Server 2003 –Stuart Aug 12 '10 at 15:01 1 Also see askubuntu.com/questions/6916/… –belacqua May 4 '12 at 17:22 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 8 down vote You'll need to use the evolution-mapi plugin - It took me a good long while to get it setup properly with my machine at work. I was able to get calendar and mail to sync properly. Some interesting things I had to do: For server I had to use the IP address of the Exchange server I had to use the Exchange MAPI as server type, if you're using Exchange 2003 or lower the Microsoft Exchange plugin will work fine. share|improve this answer answered Aug 11 '10 at 15:18 Marco Ceppi♦ 31k20132180 Useing the IP address rather than the URL did not work, Still gives: Could not configure Exchange account because an unknown error occurred. Check the URL, username, and password, and try again. –Stuart Aug 12 '10 at 14:54 OK so I had a look at the evolution MAPI plugin, The requires direct access
connecting to outlook Dear Evolution Listfolk, I've been researching my problem through your list archives and Google, but haven't https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/2010-February/msg00044.html found anything that matches the kind of problem I'm having. I'm unable to get Evolution to connect to our Exchange 2003 server. OWA is enabled, but https://discussions.vtiger.com/index.php?p=/discussion/55230/smtp-mail-settings-for-office-365-exchange/p1 the process of accessing it from a web browser requires downloading and installing a special OWA certificate. In Firefox, I install the certificate (a .pfx file) via evolution exchange the Advanced tab under Preferences and decrypt it with a passphrase. Then I go to the OWQ url and Firefox prompts me to select a certificate to identify the client. This certificate is installed in the previous step. I go through the normal process of adding an Exchange account to Evolution, get to evolution error could the second configuration step and enter the OWL url and username, and click Authenticate. The first time I try this, it hangs for a bit and I get: Could not configure Exchange account because an unknown error occurred. Check the URL, username, and password, and try again. On successive attempts, there's no hang time and I immediately get: "Could not authenticate to server" I've tried various permutations of [DOMAIN]\[username] and using the ip instead of the server name. I've added the .pfx cert to Evolution in the same manner that I did with Firefox, as well as adding the cert using gnome-keyring. When running Evolution in Debug mode I get: (evolution:30358): evolution-shell-WARNING **: Cannot activate 'OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Exchange_Component:2.28': Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred ** (evolution:30358): DEBUG: mailto URL command: evolution --component=mail %s ** (evolution:30358): DEBUG: mailto URL program: evolution ** (evolution:30358): DEBUG: Loading Exchange MAPI Plugin ** (evolution:30358): DEBUG: MAPI listener is constr
trying for days to get smtp settings configured to send mail via our hosted Exchange server (MS Office 365). I've tried two installations of Vtiger 5.4.0 - one on Ubuntu 12.04 server and the other on a Virtualbox Trunkey Linux installation. In each case I get the same results "Mail could not be sent to the admin user. Please check the admin emailid/Server settings".I've seached the forums and tried many (if not all!) of the solutions offered but none are specific to Office 365. I've even tried to enter the configuration parameters directly in the SQL table but get the same response or else "Failed to send. Please verify the outgoing server" when I try to send an email.I can get smtp outbound email to work successully using a test gmail account on either system and I can also get the Evolution email client to send and recieve with our Office 365 credentials. So it seems to point to an issue with Vtiger.Any help will be greatly appreciated. 17 Comments sorted by Votes Date Added Vote Up1Vote Down crmscot March 2014 Posts: 5 solved!eventually got it working usingtls://smtp.office365.com:587but only after following the instructions here:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn554323.aspxfor client smtp submission Vote Up0Vote Down mscott821 October 2012 Posts: 2 issue with correct ports/protocol(s) expected by exchange 365?
