Windows 2003 EE SP1 system. PSEXEC used to work correctly when run against the server. Something must have changed from last week to this week but I have no

idea whatchanged on the server. PSEXEC works fine on all other servers that I have tried to run it against. When I run: psexec \\servername ipconfig.exe I get this error: ipconfig.exe exited on servername with error code 128. But when I run: psexec \\servername -i ipconfig.exe...it works fine. Any suggestions? The error 128 is actually being returned from the ipconfig.exe command and is not a PSEXEC error code. I tracked the problem down to a service from our server monitoring product and it works fine when that service is stopped. Yes, but you might have known this from the very start, because psexec clearly said so: T

debug. And there is the message that should be have been with the error exited with error code 127 code: fatal: Unable to create ‘C:/Code/Main/.git\tfs\default\index.lock': File exists. If no other git process is currently running, this probably means a pppd exited with error code 16 git process crashed in this repository earlier. Make sure no other git process is running and remove the file manually to continue. I can work with that. There were no other git processes http://forum.sysinternals.com/psexec-exits-with-error-code-128_topic8624.html running, but the file .git\tfs\default\index.lock did exist. Deleting that we get further, this time with a very helpful error message: Run the command: git tfs cleanup-workspaces Looks good. Run the pull again and we are back in business. Basically, coming from a linux box I send files to W2K3 and then make an ssh connection executing bat and vbs scripts. For some files we have a rpoblem making the ssh connection and executing the script. In fact, in the Vshell log file I can find: .... ..... ...... 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: [LOCAL DEBUG] RECV: CHANNEL_OPEN[session] 01:24:55,conn,84757: Session channel open request accepted 01:24:55,conn,84757: Session channel failing unsupported env request 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Process SessionChannel exec request: S:\xxxxx.bat yyyyyy.20090512012448.gz 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Queued worker thread to load user environment 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: VSHELL_HOME is not valid, trying profile for user's home directory 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Profile home directory is not valid, trying "My Documents" for user's home directory 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Using home directory "C:\Documents and Settings\myuser\My Documents" for user myuser 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Received request to start S:\xxxxxx.bat yyyyyy.20090512012448.gz 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: started user process (11248) 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Received EOF on stdout from running program 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Received EOF on stderr from running program 01:24:55,dbg ,84757: Process 11248 has exited, exit-status: 128 .... .... If so, it appears as though the batch file is possibly exiting with an error. Does the batch file complete successfully? If not, are you able to run the batch file successfully when working directly on the console of the computer? __________________ --Todd VanDyke Software Technical Support support@vandyke.com 505-332-5730 rtb View Public Profile Find all posts by rtb #3 05-12-2009, 02:50 PM rtb VanDyke Technical Support Join Date: Aug 2008 Posts: 4,307 Hi onlyw72, I have some
