Yes, I have run the utility. The utility does not http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/281962-32-windows-delayed-write-failed-external-hard-drive show the drive. If the drive was bad, why would it run on other machines? I even installed a USB 2.0 IDE card. Still the same problem. m 0 l Related resources Delayed write failed- on external usb hard drive - Forum External hard disk - Delayed write failed - Forum External hard drive write delay fail - Forum Delayed write failed - After a defrag of external USB Drive - Forum external hard drive write delay fail - Forum Can't find your answer ? Have you enabled/disabled "legacy usb support" in your BIOS? I know thats prolly a long shot since you have tried the USB card, but it can't hurt. m 0 l memadmax a b G Storage 21 March 2012 21:02:00 I pulled this off of the microsoft forum site. I'm using Windows XP. Whenever I try to copy a load of files over, it works for some time (will copy over between 20 and 90GB) but eventually stops with an error saying "The specified path is too deep" - the specified is not too deep, there's nothing more than 2 directories deep that I'm copying. A balloon pops up at the bottom saying "Windows - Delayed Write Failed" telling me the data could not be copied. This wouldn't be too bad if I could just restart the transfer, but after this error has happened I can't write anything else to the disk - including if I eject it and then connect it to another machine. It just seems completely locked. The only way I can unlock it is to delete everything that I was copying to it. I've tried various USB cables and copying from different machines, and the same thing keeps happening. windows hard-drive usb file-transfer share|improve this question edited Mar 7 '15 at 22:42 Flyk 1,29811527 asked Dec 29 '09 at 11:44 user22956 2313 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted If you've tried with various USB cables, and the same exact problem occurs on different machines
