Windows Could Not Start The Apache 2.2 On Local Computer Error Code 1
Anybody can ask a question Anybody can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top A service specific error occured: 1 on trying to start Apache 2.0 server on Windows up vote 1 down vote favorite http://stackoverflow.com/questions/195641/windows-could-not-start-the-apache2-on-local-computer-problem I installed Apache on Windows 7 (localhost) and it worked fine. Then I went to download some other stuff and later noticed that the Apache server stopped. I went to command prompt (as administrator) and typed net start apache2 It says "The Apache2 service is starting." But before it finishes, I get the error A service specific error occurred: 1. It says that you can type in "NET HELPMSG 3547" for more info, but that doesn't help at all. Things I have http://superuser.com/questions/767132/a-service-specific-error-occured-1-on-trying-to-start-apache-2-0-server-on-wind tried: Quit Google Drive Sync Quit any and all programs using port 80 (port my server is on) Tried changing the port of the server and got same error message, so I don't think it has anything to do with something else being in the port None of those things have worked. I am confused at why it worked earlier, but now it won't work. windows-7 apache-http-server share|improve this question edited Dec 19 '15 at 18:36 random♦ 10.4k83954 asked Jun 10 '14 at 21:48 user2297366 11927 I'm not the one to judge you, but why don't you use nginx instead? –arielnmz Jun 11 '14 at 8:55 I am using it with coldfusion and it is integrated with apache. –user2297366 Jun 12 '14 at 15:13 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote You should check the Event Viewer for whatever shows up in the Windows Logs. Under the Application section there should be a list of errors with more details about what was exactly going wrong. Recent example found: The Apache service named reported the following error: >>> Syntax error on line 523 of C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/conf/httpd.conf: In the above example it was because a referenced drive was no longer on the system and Apache could not find it. You can usually (at least in Windows Vista) find Event Viewer along the lines of: Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Event Viewer This

I have downloaded apache 24 for 64-win from http://www.apachelounge.com. I have set the configuration accordingly. I set the server name to localhost:80 I tried also 127.0.0.1 and ::1 for ipv-6. Now when I try to run httpd –t in command prompt, I get an error saying AH00558: httpd: Couldn’t reliably determine the servers fully qualified domain name, using fe80:1d1c:848a:3498:5664. Set error code 1 the “ServerName ‘ directive globally to suppress this message Synthax OK. I am sure my server name is correct, I don’t know why this error is happening. I tried to ignore it and install apache using httpd -k install But it fails with error. It's just a warning. once the service is installed it must be started: httpd -k start If nothing else, just set the ServerName in httpd.conf to localhost long enough to get the service installed.
