Unable To Lock Database Manjaro
Arch Linux system. When I issued the following command to update Arch Linux server, it showed an error, and won't let me to install any package or remove any package.
Arch Linux Failed To Commit Transaction (unexpected Error)
pacman -Syu Sample output: :: Synchronizing package databases... error: failed to update core (unable to lock database) error: failed to update extra (unable to lock database) error: failed to update community (unable to lock database) error: failed to update multilib (unable to lock database) error: failed to synchronize any databases error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database) error: error: failed to update core (unable to lock database) could not lock database: File exists if you're sure a package manager is not already running, you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck The beauty of Linux distros is sometimes it will the implicitly display the solution along with the error message. It didn't try harder to find the solution. As you can see in the above output, it says: "..you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck". So, I simply deleted the aforementioned file with command: rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck Voila! It worked. refuses to update databases. This failed to is the error: When entering this command: sudo pacman -Sy The output was: :: Synchronizing package databases... error: failed to update unable to lock core (unexpected error) error: failed to update extra (unexpected error) error: failed to update community (unexpected error) error: failed to synchronize any databases After looking for the solution I realized that all the mirrors in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist were commented, so there were not mirrors available to update from. The simple solution was to uncomment some of them and all was working again.
