"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application." Right now, i can browse the internet normally though I couldn't before. I also had uninstalled my Norton Anti-virus software thinking that http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/4661-cmdexe-error-0xc0000142/ it might solve the problem I also used "Spybot Search And Destroy (www.spybot.info) and Ad-aware (www.lavasoft.de)" thinking that it would solve the problem. Unfortunately, I still have the same error in my system and when I run Hijact This, i got the following log: Can anybody help me? I don't know if the error I'm receiving has any relation with a malware. Anyway, I didn't do anything else with my PC than install printer drivers and some multimedia software; Please help: HiJackThis_log.txt 5.76KB 1833 downloads Regards, Xinamc 0 Advertisements #2 admin Posted 02 November 2004 - 12:58 AM admin Founder Geek Administrator 24,489 posts Hello Xinamc, welcome to Geeks to Go! Click on OK to terminate.... Discussion in 'Operating Systems' started by Shawn, Jul 31, 2003. Click on OK to terminate the application" popping up on my screen every 10 seconds failed to then disappears. I can run all other programs fine and my system seems to run normally with the exception of that message constantly popping up. Here is a screenshot of what the message looks like. It was hard to get since it disappears almost instantly. I ran Norton Antivirus but it didnt' come up with anything. I looked in the Task Manager and CMD.EXE is open 75 times. I tried restarting failed to initialize my computer but they quickly kept opening until it reached 75 processes then that error message started comming up again. I'm currently using this workaround I have found but it only hides the errors. I'm still getting all those processes open and my log file is probably growing in size very fast. #1 Shawn, Jul 31, 2003 PurpleHat Junior Member Joined: Jul 30, 2001 Messages: 4 Likes Received: 0 I have seen this several times in the past, and my experience is that it has always been the result of a virus. I would recommend checking your services for anything that should not be their (2 of the services that I have seen cause this are NTService and FireDaemon). These are legitimate services but have been used by hackers to deploy viruses. If that comes up short l would check out the run keys in the registry make nothing is starting automatically that you do not want.
