In most cases, user accounts and passwords are established during the install of the specific component. If necessary, it can be changed after the install from the CommCell Console. The following sections describe the user account information that can be modified. CommCell Changing the CommCell Administrator Password You may need to update the administrator password when you have an aging policy for passwords, or when a new administrator decides to use the same account as the former administrator. Use the following steps to change the password for the CommCell administrator: From the CommCell Browser, go to Security > CommCell Users. Right-click the administrator account and click Properties. The User Properties dialog box appears. Select the Change Password check box and do the following: In the Password box, type the new user password. In the Confirm Password box, re-enter the password. Cause The SQL Server login has insufficient authority. Membership of the sysadmin role is required to use VIRTUAL_DEVICE with BACKUP or RESTORE. BACKUP DATABASE http://kb.commvault.com/article/SQL0003 is terminating abnormally. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. Resolution The backup account used to backup SQL databases must be configured as follows: Configure the Authentication correctly from the properties of SQL iDA agent. Note: The Local System Account may not have SQL privileges by default depending on the SQL version Authentication can be further configured on the properties of the instance. By default the authentication is inherited from the iDA level. Note: The Local System Account may not have SQL privileges by default depending on the SQL version Ensure that the account specified has the correct permissions in SQL. From within SQL management studio, access Logins -> Properties of Specified account -> Server Roles. Ensure that the account has thesysadminrole assigned. As an alternative you can also configure the Commvault services to run under an account with sufficient privileges to perform the backup.
