Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) When trying to connect to any of the InfoSphere DataStage clients you get the errors: Failed to connect
Datastage Error Code 80011
to DataStage server:
Failed To Connect To Information Server Engine 80011
failed. There are a number of things that can cause this failure. Below is a check list on what to look for to resolve this issue. Open the Information Server Web failed to connect to information server engine the connection has timed out (81015) Console and go to Domain Management => DataStage credentials. If the registry is set to "Shared", skip to step 2. If the registry is set to "Not shared" then select the DataStage Server and click on "Open Configuration". Look at the user name and password for the default mapping. Retype the password to be sure it is correct. Go back to DataStage if credential mapping is used 80011 credentials and click "Open User Credentials". Look at the list of users that have individual maps set and check to see if the user you are having issues with is there. If so, click on that user and retype the user name and password for the user's map. Attempt to telnet or ssh into the DataStage server machine using the user name and password that you used in your user's mapping or, if the registry is shared, use the user name and password that you used on the DataStage login screen. Make sure that the user can connect with that same user name and password. This is the same for LDAP users. The LDAP users must be able to telnet or ssh into the DataStage server machine. 80011 will be given not only if the user/password is wrong but also if the password is expire and needs to be changed or if the account is locked. If you are using DataStage with PAM/LDAP, be sure that DataStage is configured correctly for PAM. to the Web Console. Cause IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer, WebSphere DataStage, and WebSphere QualityStage require that there is a valid operating system user id on the computer where the http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21431172 engine tier is installed. For each IBM Information Server user that needs to access the IBM Information Server engine, you must map the IBM Information Server user credentials to the engine tier operating system user credentials. If this value is incorrect you receive this error message. Environment InfoSphere Information Server using Internal registry. Resolving the problem When http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21426465 credential mapping is being used this error indicates that the credential mapping is incorrect. To resolve this do the following: In Web Console confirm that the registry is not shared. If the registry is shared then credential mapping is not being used and this technote will not apply. See related information below for other reasons for 80011. Log into the Web Console. Select the Administration tab and expand Domain Management At Information Server 8.0.1 and 8.1 Select DataStage Credentials. At Information Server 8.5, 8.7, and 9.1 Select Engine Credentials. Under User Registry confirm it lists "Not Shared" Next determine which OS user the Internal registry user, e.g. Suite User, is mapped to by doing the following: Select the Server and then click Open User Credentials. The Suite User is listed in the first column and the second column has Operating System User the Suite User is mapped to. At Information Server 8.0.1 and 8.1 when looking at the DataStage Credentials the mapped user is the user listed under the column DataStag
