Crystal Reports The Rowset Column Could Not Be Found
at 16:19 Joshua Drake 1,89221531 add a comment| 12 Answers 12 active oldest votes up vote 8 down vote accepted This is a generic error in Crystal Reports whenever the report query fails. There can be a number of causes. If your report was targeted to a specific database and then the database was changed without updated the report, this can cause it. It can also be caused by something in the query itself failing, such as if the report is failed to open rowset details 42000 based on a stored procedure that doesn't exist on the database against which the report is running. Try verifying the database for the report. share|improve this answer answered Dec 30 '08 at 17:02 Ryan Morlok 622510 1 Although this was not the resolution to my specific issue, I feel it is the most relevant to my question. –Joshua Drake Apr 16 '10 at 19:42 @Joshua Drake: what was the (re)solution of your problem?!? I'm facing the same error message and can't seem to find a solution for it... –marc_s Jul 26 '10 at 13:41 Unfortunately the report was rewritten, and in that process began to work again. I would recommend, in addition to all the answers on this page, that you make sure you have the latest service packs installed for Crystal. –Joshua Drake Aug 9 '10 at 13:15 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote As said this is a generic error, and like all such errors it's a very frustrating one. The problem is that VS 2003 has no preview option for crystal reports so it's hard to track down the source of the problem. So best way to solve this is to create a blank project in vs 2005 or later, import the crystal report, and run preview. You will get a more specific error then. share|improve this answer answered Dec 22 '10 at 8:00 Martian Kyo 111 add a comment| u

But, throughout my application, I am http://forums.devarticles.com/asp-development-3/crystal-report-failed-to-open-a-rowset-problem-3250.html using a DSN to establish the connection with database server. The problem is, when I deploy the software in the client's place with a different Server name, it shows the Login form when I call a crystal report. Eventhough, i provide the correct Servername, database name, login and password, it fails to display the report with the following message pop-up "Failed to open a row set". Can anybody please suggest me a way to fully AVOID THE LOGIN PROMPT SCREEN at all times. kaverao View Public Profile View Extended RPG Stats Challenge This User To Battle Send a private message to kaverao Find all posts by kaverao Find all threads by kaverao Add kaverao to Your Buddy List #2 April 15th, 2003, 01:26 AM cfortuna Registered User Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Saudi Arabia Posts: 8 Time spent in forums: < 1 sec Reputation Power: 0 report : 'Failed to open a rowset' problem Sir, You have to review / check all the fields in your crystalreport file, see to it that all FIELDS you use should be the same as the one in your database. After that click the "verify database" to update you C.R. File. Message will appear "database updated". Everytime you update the tables that you use in your crystal r
