any errors but DataStage Clients, such as Designer and Director, fail with the error: Failed to connect failed to connect to information server engine 81002 to DataStage server: Hostname, project: ProjectName (The connection is broken (81002)) Cause This may be caused by an incorrect value in the environment variable used by DataStage to error calling subroutine dsr_execjob (action=30) establish connections with the Engine. Diagnosing the problem To get additional information you can try invoking DataStage command line. If that doesn't provide enough information you can kill the dsrpc daemon and start it in debug mode. To start DataStage command line run the following commands: cd $DSHOME . ./dsenv bin/uvsh This is an example of
Error Calling Subroutine Dsr_execjob (action=5)
a common error that indicates an issue with the library path: bin/uvsh: error while loading shared libraries: libdsplugin.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory If the information is not enough to solve your issue continue with the steps below and start the dsrpc in debug mode. To kill the dsrpc daemon and start it in debug mode run the following commands as the root user: 1. Identify the pid of the dsrpcd and kill it. Example: $ ps -ef|grep dsrpc root 18079 /opt/IBM/InformationServer/Server/DSEngine/bin/dsrpcd $ kill 18079 Notes: The name of the datastage daemon will not be dsrpcd if you are using an itag installation. For example if the itag you are using is abc then instead of using dsrcpd you should use abcdsrcd. Do not try to stop the engine using the command "bin/uv" as this will not only stop the dsrpc daemon but also the memory segments that need to be present for the Engine to run in debugging mode. ls -u $DSHOME/bin

Unanswered question This question has not been answered yet. What are the possible casues of an 81002 error. Message: Failed to connect to host:'server name', project: UV (the connection is broken (81002)) We receive this error approximately every 24 hours. We can boot the server and all is OK http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21431882 for the next 24 hours. Any ideas? Log in to reply. This is the accepted answer. It is a timeout mechanism, by which DS clients connect to the Datastage engine. You can increase timeout https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=126723 from Administrator. This error code can mean that the connection has timed out based on the inactivity timeout setting. This is most often seen when you've left the client unattended for some time. Also it could result becuase of DataStage RPC daemon (dsrpcd) is no longer running. ketfos Log in to reply. Thanks ketfos, We have, since the beginning, set the timeout to 86400 (24 hours). I come in early in the morning, I can see no clients connected (via TaskManager), I can connect to this server using Admin, Designer, etc, etc and get in. I try again later and I get the 81002 error. As I noted the reboot seems to 'fix' the 81002 for about 24 hours. I will followup on the dsrpcd. Thanks again. Log in to reply. Show: 10 25 50 100 items per page Previous Next Feed for this topic
