I have cloned xtables-addons git repo from SF. It has a "autogen.sh" to create the configure script. ./autogen.sh is failing with following message: /usr/bin/m4:configure.ac:33: Warning: excess arguments to builtin `m4_if' ignored autom4te: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 1 aclocal: autom4te failed with exit status:
Autoreconf Automake Failed With Exit Status 1
1 autoreconf: aclocal failed with exit status: 1 I'm not experienced in autotools, so i'm clueless about what's actually going on there. The autogen.sh contains the follwing: #!/bin/bash autoreconf -fi; rm -Rf autom4te*.cache; Why its failing? i have all the autotools. EDIT: [root@s1 xtables-addons]# /usr/bin/m4 --version m4 (GNU M4) 1.4.13 Copyright (C) 2009 Free Software Foundation, Inc. License GPLv3+: GNU GPL version 3 or later

I get this error: zsh: no such file or directory: ./configure I also tried on MacOS. tSed commented Feb failed with 2, 2015 Hi, Since it's sources from vcs repository, you have to autoreconf the project in order to generate the configure script. See [1] for more details about autotools-based projects. [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_build_system Regards, tkelestemur commented Feb 2, 2015 I installed autoconf tool and run it inside of the liburg folder and get this log pi@raspberrypi ~/Desktop/liburg $ sudo autoconf configure.in:7: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE failed with exit If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow. See the Autoconf documentation. configure.in:9: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_CONFIG_HEADER configure.in:24: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_LIBTOOL configure.in:50: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_CONDITIONAL I checked but couldn't find any solution. btw: thanks for fast reply. tSed commented Feb 2, 2015 @tkelestemur said: pi@raspberrypi ~/Desktop/liburg $ sudo autoconf Gahhhh! you don't need root privileges to build a package, just need them when you install it in the system (i.e. / or somewhere else you, as user, don't have write permissions). Anyway, to autoconf/autoreconf the project, you should try: autoreconf -isfv tkelestemur commented Feb 2, 2015 I've just tried but couldn't do it. Log can be found below. I also tried autoreconf -i. pi@raspberrypi ~/Desktop/liburg $ autoreconf -isfv autoreconf: Entering directory `.' autoreconf: configure.in: not using Gettext autoreconf: running: aclocal --force autom4te: cannot open autom4te.cache/requests: Permission denied aclocal: /usr/bin/autom4te failed with exit status: 1 autoreconf: aclocal failed with exit status: 1 pi@raspberrypi ~/Desktop/liburg $ ./configure configure: error: cannot find install-sh, install.sh, or shtool in "."
