At one point I have tested this and it worked without an issue so I didn't backup my conf file (grrr). Now I have been fighting with it and nothing I try will work. I have my windows service setup to login as a domain user and I am logged into the server as that user and can connect to the samba server without it prompting me for a password; however when I run my service is gets a Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Edit #1 9-Dec-2010 1654 GMT/ 0954 MST I upgraded to Samba v3.3.8-0.52.el5_5.2 and was able to finally get some useful logs, however no matter what I do I can not get a user to map and correctly authenticate. Posts: 12 Little help with samba? Hi everyone!First I'd like to say that Arch is the best linux distro I have used. Better than ubuntu!! I just switched from ubuntu I ran into problems https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=47286 and solved them one by one....sound....scim....I can't believe that samba is what's stopping me. I can't get any other computers on my network to access my shared folder, only one folder inside /home. Windows complains about cannot access blahblah; another Slax live cd machine opens the folder then says the folder doesn't exist. my smb.conf is very simple:[share] path = /home/hsjc/share available = yes browsable failed with = yes public = yes guest ok = yes writable = yes [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP netbios name = hsjc-arch security = share include = /etc/samba/usershare.confI can access other computers on the network alright.... Any help will be appreciated.EDIT: Some update. I've been working on this all night. By adding the log I found that [2008/04/18 01:43:52, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(319) check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [nobody] -> [nobody] failed with error FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USERThis is what i dont understand. I set public = yes and why am I getting this authentication error?
