into the "The call to LoadLibrary (exts) failed. Win32 error 0n2" error, like this: loadlibrary failed with error 126 This seemed to be an odd error, as it was loadlibrary failed with error 126 minecraft the first time I had started the debugger. To verify what extensions were, in fact, loaded, loadlibrary failed with error 126 c++ I ran the .chain command and noticed that the DLL for ntsdexts was showing in a "(Not loaded)" status: This told me that a needed extension

was not loaded, and that might have been the result of my custom install of WinDBG. Custom installs are typically done on servers to conserve disk space and not load unnecessary files (such as the SDK and samples). When I re-ran the installer and stepped through the wizard, I noticed that I had loadlibrary failed with error 126 cannot find specified module not checked the Windows XP Extensions. I did not check this extension as I was installing the debugger on a Windows 2003 Server, not a desktop OS. However, if you look more closely at the description, you will see that the extension is geared to "Windows XP and Windows Server 2003." This is an omission in the installer UI that can easily be missed: I simply ensured I selected the Windows XP extention for install, and completed running the installer. Once the installer completed, I restarted WinDBG, and all extentions loaded without a problem: Hopefully this might fix you up if you run into a similar situation. Ingmar Thanks for posting this, I had the same problem. Working on Windows 7 system, I didn't think that those extension were necessary. Running a "modify" and adding the extensions immediately fixed it. Guest Thanks for posting this! I had the same issue and your post helped me fix it.

After many Internet searches and things tried I'm stumped. I have experience debugging unmanaged code with WinDbg but this is my first attempt with managed. When I direct WinDbg to load the default SOS.dll it gives this error: sxe ld clr <- I wait until the clr has loaded .loadby http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22461265/windbg-fails-to-load-sos-dll sos clr The call to LoadLibrary(C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\sos) failed, Win32 error 0n193 "%1 is not a valid Win32 application." Please check your debugger configuration and/or network access. And if I instead attempt to specify the SOS.dll I receive a different error: .load C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\sos clr The call to LoadLibrary(C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\sos clr) failed, Win32 error 0n126 "The specified module could not be found." Please check your debugger configuration and/or network access. My setup is VM-to-VM over serial connection and both VMs are Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Debugging Tools For Windows (x64) is installed in both VMs. NOTE: It appears installing x86 Debugging Tools on a x64 CPU as is suggested in this solution is not possible (nor necessary) in newer Windows OS's so please don't suggest it. The installer fails with an error. Thanks in advance for your ideas. windbg share|improve this question asked Mar 17 '14 at 17:32 mvwhyatt 10217 what error message? i have seen plenty of x86 windbg installs on win7 64bit –x29a Mar 17 '14 at 17:46 .load only takes the path to SOS, not clr at the end.
