Ccmsetup Failed With Error Code 0x87d0029e
installed SCCM 2012 R2 on a 2012 R2 Box with SQL 2014. I am having issues with installing the client on machines. Initiating a client push form SCCM, the client successfully pushes to the client and downloads it to the admin$\ccmsetup folder The client starts installing, you can see the ccmsetup failed with error code 0x80072ee7 ccmsetup.exe run in the task manager and starts with 4% cpu usage and then goes to 0%. 5 or so minutes later, the ccmsetup.exe ends and that is the end of it, nothing else. I checked the admin$\ccmsetup\logs folder and have been researching it with no luck. Any ideas? The logs are shown below: LocationType="SMSPACKAGE" DistributeOnDemand="0" UseProtected="0" AllowCaching="0" BranchDPFlags="0" AllowHTTP="1" AllowSMB="0" AllowMulticast="0" UseInternetDP="0"> Name="Default-First-Site-Name"/> SubnetAddress="****:****:****:****" Address="****:****:****:****:****:****:****:****"/> ']LOG]!> date="08-15-2014" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="0" thread="4236" file="siteinfo.cpp:96"> message header '{F6A40FA1-2474-46F2-8CB7-3EC7FBE93C7F}***COMPUTER_NAME***mp:[http]MP_LocationManagerdirect:***COMPUTER_NAME***:LS_ReplyLocations36005931HTTPS://***primarysite***MP_LocationManagerSynchttp2014-08-15T14:31:20Z Type="ByteRange" Offset="0" Length="1328"/> Name="zlib-compress"/> Type="inline"/>']LOG]!> date="08-15-2014" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="0" thread="4236" file="siteinfo.cpp:177"> 'HTTPS://***primarysite***/ccm_system/request']LOG]!>; date="08-15-2014" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="4236" file="httphelper.cpp:807"> searching client certificates based on Certificate Issuers]LOG]!> date="08-15-2014" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="4236" file="ccmcert.cpp:4393"> searching client certificates based on Certificate Issuers]LOG]!> date="08-15-2014" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="4236" file="ccmcert.cpp:4550"> to select client certificate]LOG]!> date="08-15-2014" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="1" thread="4236" file="ccmcert.cpp:4706"> 'Certificate Selection Criteria' was not specified, counting number of certificates present
WSUS integration. We had deployed a PKI specifically so that we could use HTTPS only mode (Native mode as it used to be called) to secure all traffic between the client and server. I found that when the environment was configured ccmsetup failed with error code 0x8007d007 for HTTPS only a client install triggered from WSUS would not try and use it’s client ccmsetup failed with error code 0x87d00283 certificate to talk back to the management point and so could not complete it’s installation. I raised this with MS support who confirmed that this ccmsetup failed with error code 0x80072ee2 is an issue and that there are a few workarounds you can use while they are (hopefully) developing a fix for this issue… Background In SCCM there are two main methods (ignoring manual deployment) of pushing out the SCCM client…. Client Push https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/561929-system-center-configuration-manager-2012-r2-client-fails-install Installation The first called “Client Push” does what it says, you supply SCCM with an account that has local admin rights on the endpoint and SCCM then tries to access the Admin$ share to upload it's client and then triggers a remote install using WMI. This method can be very messy as you have to have an account that has local admin rights on each pc, you also need to make sure you have a bunch of ports open on any firewalls between http://www.bibble-it.com/2012/10/14/sccm-2012-client-deployment-fails-in-https-mode your SCCM server and the client (for CIFS and WMI). If any of these factors are out, or the remote machine is turned off when SCCM tries to install, you can end up getting heap of error messages in your SCCM logs that will ultimately show your hierarchy as being unhealthy. Note that when doing a client push installation you can specify custom install strings directly in the SCCM GUI (more on this later) Software Update-Based client installation Alternatively SCCM allows you to deploy it’s client using WSUS… this method is much easier and simpler to achieve in an AD domain environment & really if your planning on using SCCM to control patching for your organisation is the only choice you should consider. It works using the instance of WSUS that you need to make SCCM do patch management (As you may or may not know SCCM uses WSUS as a “filter” to talk to Microsoft to get it's information about patches. Also when doing client side patching the SCCM client agent uses WSUS to figure out what patches it’s missing). When you enable “Software update client install” SCCM talks to the WSUS instance you have configured and then injects it’s client as a legitimate update. This then means that any client that is configured to use your SCCM WSUS instance checks in and is then told that it's missing the SCCM client and starts installing. No faffing about with access rights or firewall ports as bui

We then created the System Management container in AD, delegated permissions to the container, extended the Schema for Configuration Manager. We then opened TCP ports 1433 failed with error and 4022 for SQL replication between sites, installed some prerequisites like .NET Framework 4.0, added some features and then downloaded and installed SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 CU6. We then configured SQL Server using SQL Server Management Studio for security and memory configurations prior to running the Configuration Manager 2012 setup to assess server readiness. Finally we installed a central administration site (CAS). In Part 2 we setup our Primary server with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 CU6. We then installed Configuration Manager 2012 on our primary server (P01) and verified that it was replicating to our central administration site (CAS) server. We then configured Discovery methods for our Hierarchy and then configure Boundaries and Boundary Groups. In Part 3 we configured Discovery methods and configured boundaries and created a boundary group, we then configured them for Automatic Site Assignment and Content Location. Now we will add some roles to our Hierarchy and then configure Custom Client Device Settings and then deploy those settings to the All Systems collection on site P01. After that we will create Custom Client User Settings and deploy them to the All Users collection in order to allow users to define their own User and Device affinity se
