Server Authentication Problem tgiceApril 20th, 2010, 10:15 PMI've been working for hours with Samba on Ubuntu Server 9.10 (Samba version 3.4.0), trying freenas failed with error nt_status_no_such_user to get it setup simply as a fileserver that performs authentication to username map nt_status_no_such_user an NT 4 server (yes, I know, old and out of date). After much struggling, I finally realized samba nt_status_no_such_user that my configuration *was* working when the clients connecting (from XP, and Win2k clients, mostly) were actually joined to the domain (where the PDC is the NT 4 Server) and spnego login failed: nt_status_no_such_user logged into the domain. For various reasons, many of the Windows clients at this location don't actually log into the domain, even though they have login/passwords that are valid users on the domain and they'll typically have some drives mapped to the PDC. By the way, I have this working on another Linux box running Samba 3.0.28, so I'm sure it's

The previous 5xx N4F version, installed Full on a HD, was fine.I downloaded the full config to file, compared to the old one, and I see few differences. What should I look for? At one point I have tested this and it worked without an issue so I didn't backup my conf file (grrr). Now I have been fighting with it and nothing I try will work. I have my windows service setup to login as a domain user and I am logged into the server as that user and can connect to the samba server without it prompting me for a password; however when I run my service is gets a Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Edit #1 9-Dec-2010 1654 GMT/ 0954 MST I upgraded to Samba v3.3.8-0.52.el5_5.2 and was able to finally get some useful logs, however no matter what I do I can not get a user to map and correctly authenticate.
