Fan Error Lenovo T440p
sadieb Posts: 3 This post has been reported. Hey anyone who can help, I recently put together my first fan error lenovo t420 computer mostly on my own (A tech-savvy friend came over to make sure everything was plugged in right). Every time I boot up the computer, I see the error message "CPU Fan Error", but https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/194666/How+to+fix+fan+error when I look at the fan, it's most definitely spinning away. Certain programs (mostly large games like Diablo 3 and Dragon Age) will crash the program shortly after starting up, if not crashing the entire computer, and many smaller programs will freeze or close on their own, which I have been told may be a sign of overheating. I've tried restarting the computer a number of times, http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/cpu-fan-error-on-boot-but-fan-is-running uninstalling the games, plugging the fan into different ports on the motherboard (in case I had it wrong), and even bought a new fan, and I still keep getting this message. I've had this new computer for around a week now and it has been nothing but trouble. All I want is for it to work. Can someone please help me? The way to find it is to click configure once installed. Temps will then be given. Post back what the temp is usually around (ex: if it goes from like 18 to 20 to 19 to 20, just say like 20). Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top sadieb Posts: 3 This post has been reported. According to the BIOS menu when I booted up, the CPU was sitting at around 34. As of right now, it's around 39-40. I also keep getting error messages saying that "windows explorer is not responding" every few seconds, at which point my desktop, start menu, and toolbar all re

Fixed the problem of “02FA Main Fan Error” on Gateway M-6866 laptop. Computer would not boot up. I had tried several things including removing the RAM, replacing the fan but none of them worked until....I lucked out with the fix described below. The Problem: - When I hit the start button, fan speeds up for a few seconds then stops - Get an error message: “02FA Main Fan Error”, “please turn off computer and check CPU fan” - Computer won’t boot up. The fix: - Unplug the computer A/C cord from the computer - Remove the battery - Press and hold down the start button for 30 seconds (with no battery or A/C cord inserted) - Plug the A/C cord back into the computer - Start the computer as normal -- Note that the computer may give you a message that the computer was not shut down properly, and ask if you want to start in “SAFE MODE” - I hit NO, and the computer started up normally. - After the computer fully boots up, shut it down normally - Disconnect the A/C cord, re-insert the battery and the A/C cord and re-start the computer - That is all I had to do to fix it…….works fine now. Called tech support and they resolved the issue. They had me unplug everything to the machine, including the power cable. Then, I had to hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Apparently, this drains all power that is stored and rests something. I thought the guy was just following his checklist, but you can imagine how surprised I was when my computer booted up. It abrupty died when we were watcing a program on media center and would not come back when the power button was pressed It was behaving very erratically, not even showing the BIOS spash screen most times. Reseating the cards, memory, unplugging the HDD and trying to boot off the CD, etc. did not help. Resetting the motherboard coaxed it to go all the way to loading the OS and while doing so it again crashed. This indicated that the CPU may be overheating. Took apart the cooling block mounted on top of the CPU, cleaned the old thermally conductive grease off and added a new layer of grease, replaced cooling block on CPU, reset the motherboard again per KevDMD. This time it started up and let me go through the BIOS and
