There is this entry in add/remove programs called Showinfo. It is apparently made by Linksador. I couldn't find the installer file and the linksador folder in program files has a showinfo subfolder and is empty. I even enabled show hidden folders to see if any folders were hidden. Here is the problem. The ShowInfo entry in add/remove programs is stuck there, and I can't seem to get rid of it. It is gone everywhere else, except for in add/remove programs. This has been there for a long time, long before the XP end of support date, and I would like to get rid of it to do some cleanup on my XP machine. I also checked under regedit, HIKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFT

Char was trying to remove Quicken and got the fatal error message. Char, I am going to list this answer as a tip on the tip page also for you. Char the fatal error message means it is already gone. However it is still on the list of programs. To get rid of it you need to go into the registry as follows: Click run and type regedit. Click on + sign for HKeyLocalMachine Click on fatal error during + sign for software Click on + sign for Mirosoft Click on + sign for Windows Click on + sign for Uninstall Scroll down and look at all the installed programs and if you see quicken delete it. It’s a long tree that opens so use the up and down arrows on the keyboard to scroll through the installed programs. As you scroll look in the right hand pane for publisher and it tell you who’s program it is. After you delete the quicken file open ‘ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS’ again and you will notice it is NO LONGER ON THE LIST. PS Back up the registry by clicking on file and export the registry to your desktop before you start in case you screw it up...it can be restored. __________________ Desktop MSI G860 Jimmy Carter View Public Profile Visit Jimmy Carter's homepage! Just open it and it will list all the programs installed (and that it thinks are installed) on your computer. Right click on Quicken and select remove entry and it will be removed from the list. Pretty sure it just does the same thing that Jimmy Carter suggested only it is automated and you don't have to go into the registry if you are not comfortable doing that. __________________ HP 500-223w,Windows 8.1,8 gig ram,1 tb hard dr
