I have a little analysis that may help in resolving this issue. My Solution contains a Silverlight application, web application, windows service, MS reports.rdlc files, Silverlight enabled WCF service and few class library projects. I was working on design of areport.rdlc file and certainly there was a power failure. When I reopened pc and reopened my solution and double click on my report.rdlc file the VS crashed. VS is also crashing on finding anything solution wide. I even run the VS 2008 setup to repair it, I even removed the complete VS installation and reinstalled, I even removed my windows installation and reinstall it. The problem is still there, I even tried to run the older version of my project that was running perfectly, VS is still crashing. When I put deep eye on it and tried lots of work around I find one thing crazy. When I removed my web project, that contain reports files also, from the solution and run the web project separately, the reports started working and there is no crash, I re-added the web project to the solution and now VS starting crashing again. One thing more, I removed the Silverlight tools installed on my PC and reopened the solution it gave me error that the Silverlight project type is unknown and cannot load it which is fine. Now there is no crash and the solution is working fine without Silverlight project. I reinstalled Silverlight tools and again open the solution. Now again my VS is crashing on opening report.rdlc files.
