This has been running along quite nicely, there are a number of versions running simultaneously, the latest version has approx 8000 orders living and breathing on it daily, a typical order lives on the system for 3 to 4 weeks. Over the past two months the latest workflow service has faulted terminating the windows service :-( This has never happened before during the 12 months it has been implemented. The problems have occurred whilst processing the overnight timer jobs. These are jobs that are come to life around midnight each evening measuring any SLAs, KPIs ..etc. Whilst attempting to de-serialize the orders to check the SLAs the following errors occurred 1 . Object reference not set to an instance of an object. { at System.Runtime.Serialization.ObjectManager.DoNewlyRegisteredObjectFixups(ObjectHolder holder) ... 2. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. { at System.Runtime.Serialization.ObjectManager.GetCompletionInfo(FixupHolder fixup, ObjectHolder& holder, Object& member, Boolean bThrowIfMissing) ... Resulting in the host then terminating with – Object reference not set to an instance of an object. { at System.Runtime.Serialization.ObjectManager.GetCompletionInfo(FixupHolder fixup, ObjectHolder& holder, Object& member, Boolean bThrowIfMissing) at System.Runtime.Serialization.ObjectManager.CompleteObject(ObjectHolder holder, Boolean bObjectFullyComplete)

[ASP.NET MVP] wrote: hmm, that's a nasty error. Cut the code down to just bare bones and load it into a separate windows service running on the same box and see if produces the same error. If it does, that's a microsoft issue to fix. You can also run it under the debugger and set the debugger to break on a first chance exception. That may locate the line of code that may be responsible for the error. However, since nothing changed on the box, it may be SP1 related. -- Regards, Alvin Bruney [MVP ASP.NET] [Shameless Author plug] Download OWC Black Book, 2nd Edition Exclusively on www.lulu.com/owc $15.00 Need a free copy of VSTS 2008 w/ MSDN Premium? http://msmvps.com/blogs/alvin/Default.aspx ------------------------------------------------------- "Rotem"
