There are many file creation error other ISO files and other types of files in their respective sub-folders which are copied successfully using the above Xcopy command, but when copying this one particular iso file, I get an error msg: "File creation error - The parameter is incorrect." I have tried manually copying the file using the DOS Copy command and also dragging & dropping it in Windows Explorer with no trouble. The file is not corrupt as I can burn it onto a CD and play from it. Any ideas as to why Xcopy is not allowing me to copy this one file? I burned a cd a couple of years ago, many .mp3 music files. Now I am trying to copy those files off the cd onto my winXP machine. I could only copy half a dozen and then got an error message: 'cannot copy filename - the parameter is incorrect'. Googled around and read what I found and then tried xcopy from the dos box. I got about 70 of them and then got a very similar error message in dos: 'file creation error - the parameter is incorrect' There's about another 70 I need to get off the cd. And I'd really love to know what is going on, so's i can avoid it ever happening again. I can't find any further suggestions other than xcopy. Nor can I find any explanations of the mechanism that is giving rise to this. Can anyone in this forum help, perhaps? regards, ab Reply With Quote November 5th, 2006,05:05 PM #2 CCT View Profile View Forum Posts Registered User Join Date Feb 2006 Location Canada, Eh! Posts 4,090 edit: Welcome to WinDrivers: Try this: get the cd/dvd to LIST in Explorer and start from the bottom and click the bottom file then hold CTRL key down and click the next 19 going upward - then select copy and paste . If that works, do 20 at a time. Last edited by CCT; November 5th, 2006 at 05:12 PM.
