I am trying to synch a WebDAV mapped drive folder (Z:\Images) with a folder on a hard drive on my local computer (E:). Here is the command I am running: xcopy E:\Images Z:\Images /D /E Here is the error message I get: File creation error - The directory is not empty. Unable to create directory - Z:\images 0 File(s) copied I can use xcopy to copy from a local folder to an empty directory on the WebDAV drive. The WebDAV drive works perfectly find when trying to access or modify via Windows Explorer. Also, the xcopy command works fine when using two local folders or when the remote directory is actually empty. Source machine is a Windows 7 machine and destination machine is a Windows Server 2008 machine. webdav xcopy share|improve this question edited Jan 22 '12 at 16:46 Skyhawk 12.8k33784 asked Jan 13 '12 at 18:49 jmacinnes 55 Have you added a /Y to allow overwriting the destination directory? Otherwise, I've had better luck with xcopy E:\Images*.* Z:\Images*.* /D /E /Y –Paul Ackerman Jan 17 '12 at 20:43 2 Have you tried robocopy instead of xcopy? –jftuga Jan 17 '12 at 20:43 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted +100 Are you trying to "mirror" the E: drive, meaning if you add/delete a file in E: you want it added/deleted in Z:? I need to keep the two sync'ed when files are added/changed on the network folder. I dont care about deletions. What I have tried file creation is using XCOPY with the /D /E switches and the UNC path to the sharepoint library. The initial copy works great. All of the files and sub-directories are added to the document library. If I change a file in the root directory or add a file to the root directory and run the XCOPY command again the files are updated. file creation error However, if I change/add a file to a sub-directory I receive the following error: Unable to creae directory - directory is not empty File creation error - cannot create file If I try the same thing between two network folders it works perfectly and synchronizes all files and directories down to every level. But not when I use a UNC path to a sharepoint directory. I've also tried using a syncronization tool that we have called SureSync. That does not work either. I receive a "parameter is incorrect" error. I've checked all security and its all fine. Does anyone know of a good way to incrementally snychronize a sharepoint document library and a network folder? I do not want to have to delete and then re-copy everything over each time. This directory is about 300MB. After the initial copy I just want to copy the changes. I wanted to set this up to run on a schedule that runs every 15-20 minutes. Thanks Sunday, July 13, 2008 10:10 AM Reply | Quote Answe
