now it hardly reads anything i've burned on my cd writer. these cds are working on everything else. it will read original mastered cds, but not stuff iv'e burnt off iTunes or compilations. it was giving me an error code [09f] focus error dvd player which the manual says is a focusing error. is my lens dead? can i fix this or get it fixed? moebius, Jul 27, 2006 #1 kenneth2k1 Joined: Oct 9, 2003 Messages: 252 I don't mess with those things, but from what I understand if the lens is off then it's best to get yourself another drive because those components are so delicate. Did you do an overburn on that drive at any time? I heard those can throw off the optics. suzuki grand vitara cd player focus error kenneth2k1, Jul 27, 2006 #2 kiwiguy Joined: Aug 17, 2003 Messages: 17,584 Firstly, I have never seen a case where "cleaning" the laser lens actually worked, the symptoms have always been that of a dying laser. Secondly, I would never use a cleaning disc with the small brushes on it, the tracking mechanics are incredibly fragile in the laser assembly, so it is quite probable that they have been instrumental in hastening the demise. Failing to read burned CD's is always the sign of a laser losing output power, in my experience. As for repair, its unlikely. If anyone had the sophisticated and expensive alignment equipment and the laser assemblies, the costs of performing a repair and realignment would probably be several times the cost of a new unit. kiwiguy, Jul 27, 2006 #3 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies. TAKE it bAck they will replace it. It should be under warrenty. Mine still was after installing subs and some other aftermarket stuff. I went through 4 cd players before I got one that worked. Then I replaced it with aftermarket. But not the point . Point is its toast. Sorry. I can't play CD's anymore on my 6 disc CD player. I have use a compressed/pressurized dust can spray before and it worked for a while but now it doesn't do the trick. I get a FOCUS ERROR problem on the display. I tried using a CD cleaner but it is of no use. Do you happen to know if the CD player is included on the warranty? I have this car for 20 months. Any inputs from this forum will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
