was no harm done, this was in October, 3 months ago. On turning the camera on yesterday, I now get a "Focus error" message appear and the focus error cd player camera is not responding to anything.I found out that I'm not covered with an insurance so will have to pay myself to get it fixed, is it possible that I could somehow myself have a go at fixing it? camera suddenly malfuctioned and now it is showing Focus error message. I didnt drop the camera nither did it go through any shock, it was very sudden and unexpected. Is there anybody who had this problem. Please help me. I dont have any fuji repair center over here in Bngladesh, so please give me some informations. Is it mechanical problem or software? The camera is only 7 months old. davidmcw07-10-2006, 10:13 AMYou must send camera to Fuji service center for repair. Info is on Fuji's site on the net. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/21894088 Hany07-19-2006, 03:07 AMI had the same problem with my S5600 too. It broke down after using it for only 4 months. It's really frustrating. I tried changing batteries and resetting the camera but it didn't work. I bought the camer from the UK, and I don't have international warranty support here in Egypt. The local Fuji repair center said it would cost about 260$ http://www.dcresource.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-21562.html to fix, almost two thirds the price of a new S5600. Please tell me Pop if you have more information on the issue. Hany01-04-2007, 05:53 PMOhh, I have some updates on the issue. I had my camera fixed at Fujifilm dealer in Dubai. Unfortunately, Dubai technicians turned out to be by no means educated to fix a camera. They fixed the "focus error" message, but caused two other problems. The AF assist lamp doesn't work at all, and all the camera shots are blurred and out of focus. The result is that still after paying to fix it at an authorized Fujifilm dealer the camera is unusable. Hany03-08-2007, 12:49 PMAnother update. The camera malfunctioned again. It had the same problem again, that of a "focus error". It's a persistent error. kikn7903-09-2007, 02:00 PMHany, Have you spoke to Fuji about your issues? If it was "fixed" by an authorized dealer and it's still broke, shouldn't they make an attempt again? I haven't had to deal with Fuji support so I don't know what their customer service is like. It has taken fab photos with no complaints until now, on holiday last week we were snapping happy then suddenly the screen came up 'focus error' and we cant take any more pictures. Is there any way of resolving this? I would appreciate knowing what you think. Thank you. Jane Share this conversation Expert: Marcia replied5 years ago. Hello and thank you for choosing JustAnswer.com. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I focus error finepix will be assisting you today. Sometimes cameras such as yours can have a bit of debris jam up the lens or the lens can get knocked out of alignment. Often this can be resolved by a doing a few simple things. If it still does not work, then it would need to be repaired or replaced. Turn off camera set on a table and with a bright light look around the lens turret to see if there is any foreign matter jamming the lens. Try cleaning the crevice between the lens and body with canned air using short bursts at an angle so as to blow any dust and debris out, not force it farther in. Turn on camera and test. If that doesn't work: Turn off camera, turn the camera over and gently shake. Sometimes gravity will do what canned air doesn't. Turn on camera and test. Here’s another way to do it: Use your AV cable to give your camera an extra boost of power. Plugging it in and turning the camera on bypasses the led screen and the camera is able to use the extra power to run the lens. if there is some debris down where you cannot see it this may give the camera enough extra power to dislodge it on it's own. Try turning the camera at different angles to let gravity help.

I turn it on and immediately on the LCD is the message "Focus Error". How can this be when I have not even attempted to focus the camera? Has anyone else had this problem? I have to turn the camera on and off many times to get past this problem. Is there a start up sequence that the lens has to go through when the camera is turned on? Is this a sign that my lens is failing?
 kiwi 460 posts Posted March 1, 2012 Karma.
