Not much else to say about it. –Martin Smith Jun 3 '10 at 12:27 1 So you are saying that SELECT * FROM Sup_Item_Cat WHERE sup_item_cat_id = '123123' returns results? –Martin Smith Jun 3 '10 at 12:36 2 Also you say "the last coulum "client_id" i am getting the conflict." This isn't what the error message implies I think you are looking in the wrong place for your problem. –Martin Smith Jun 3 '10 at 12:38 add a comment| 13 Answers 13 active oldest votes up vote 128 down vote accepted In your table dbo.Sup_Item_Cat, it has a foreign key reference to another table. The way a FK works is it cannot have a value in that column that is not also in the primary key column of the referenced table. If you have SQL Server Management Studio, open it up and sp_help 'dbo.dbo.Sup_Item_Cat'. See which column that FK is on, and which column of which table it references. You're inserting some bad data. Let me know if you need anything explained better! share|improve this answer edited Nov 2 '15 at 21:18 maxshuty 1,3026926 answered Jun 3 '10 at 12:29 Mike M. 1,351182 3 Thanks for

Thanks Saturday, June 01, 2013 5:45 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote CHeck the constraint. It could be simple such as trying to use a foreign key that doesn't exist or possibly the employee status - employee detail is not a match and it is constrained by the database rules. For example, the employee is the CEO and the status is worker... or vice versa.R, J Marked as answer by PMunshi Monday, June 03, 2013 4:36 PM Saturday, June 01, 2013 6:04 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote "The UPDATE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_EmployeeDetail_EmployeeeStatus".
