If you're ready for one of your own, Microsoft's FrontPage 2003 has everything you need to create Web pages. It's true. Your geek friends may howl in contempt if you use FrontPage, but that's because the program has a reputation for spitting out cookie-cutter Web pages with messy, overloaded HTML code that takes forever to load. Not any more. After listening to complaints, Microsoft has given FrontPage 2003 some pretty advanced features, including an HTML cleanup tool that helps alleviate bloated code, and new support for Macromedia Flash and XML. Now, savvy Web veterans can control as much of the process as they want, and even collaborate on a site with developers who use Dreamweaver, GoLive or other Web authoring tools. Yet, unlike those other tools, FrontPage 2003 still has automated features for beginners who don't know where to start. There's still one flaw, though. Microsoft's idea of a user manual is a flimsy pamphlet. But that's easily solved. FrontPage 2003: The Missing Manual offers you everything from the basics to meaty sections on advanced tasks. Our book puts the program's features in context, with clear and thorough chapters that provide val

I can see where to enter the address of the page in Form Options/Confirmation Page, but what is the code needed to insert the fields that have failed validation? I can't find the default field to copy over the essential bit that will say what has been filled incorrectly, with my own text before and after. Any help would be much appreciated. FP validation occurs before the form is submitted not on the confirmation page. -- Mike -- FrontPage MVP '97-'02 http://www.websunlimited.com FrontPage Add-ins Since '97 2003 / 2002 / 2000 Compatible ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- If you think I'm doing a good job, let MS know at com "Steve K Marshall" wrote in message news:%23v%phx.gbl... and MD Reply With Quote 08-15, 09:42 AM #3 Re: Custom Form Error Page I appreciate that, but w

Basically, the FrontPage server extensions process outgoing forms as well as incoming forms. For example, in otgoing frontpage form forms, they they replace action="--WEBBOT-SELF--" with the name of the correct form handler, and they *remove* the message, "Cannot run the FrontPage Server Extensions' Smart HTML interpreter on this non-HTML page," which the FrontPage client adds to any page that uses a FrontPage form handler. With two different processes (FrontPage SE and ASP) trying to process the outgoing page, you migth frontpage form confirmation wonder it the two are compatible. They are not. ASP wins, the FP Server Extensions ignore the page, and you get the message you see. Putting the form in an Include Page component offers no relief, because FrontPage adds the included form HTML to your page at the time you save it. Why are you going through this "include" gyration, anyway? Review the posts in this forum I have seen some close but no cigar responses about this error. I have been publishing using FTP because the web server that my pages live on will not show up properly in the FrontPage publishing window. There are three folders on the server that show up in FrontPage publisher as web pages. The folder in question is named mainwebsite_html. I am pretty sure that if I could gain access to the folder through FP I could create the form and confirmation page without a problem. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Page location is: www.quicksnackny.com/contact.htm One other question - Does the confirmation page I create belong in the main directory or does it need to exist in the _private directory? Thank again. -- Rob mtblrg, Jan 2, 2006 #1 Advertisements AMysticWeb Guest The FrontPage form relies on both the FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE) and using the built in "Publish Web" function to http location. If your host doesn't offer the extensions, they may have a form handler script available. If so, you could build the form with FP and send the results through their form handler. I would appreciate your thoughts. If I open the page (http://www.quicksnackny.com/contact.htm) in FP using the URL I am prompted for the ID and password. These are not accepted. When I hit cancel the site opens in FP (indicated by the
