a file system corruption. (I guess) I have a Kernel 2.4.7-10 with ext3 file system in compact ext3-fs error (device sda6) in start_transaction journal has aborted flash. The system was up for 3 months and was running with average load conditions. One fine day, it just started sending kernel messages on the serial console.

13th, 2009, 03:30 AMHi there, I have an Ubuntu system that I installed with a LUKS encrypted filesystem. It's been working great, https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1094736.html but yesterday, something happened and it stopped responding ... I http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2003-September/009878.html couldn't SSH in or wake up the terminal w/ mouse/keyboard. So I had to reboot it manually. Since then, starting today, the disk or system has been experiencing some kind of error, and the FS has been going into read-only mode. I fs error searched the forum for answers, and tried shutdown -Fr now To force a fsck on reboot. It found some errors that it fixed, but it looks like it is still mounting parts of the filesystem as read-only. Can I fix/salvage this at all, or do I need to do a full reinstall? Here detected aborted journal is my fsck log and dmesg below: lolcat:/var/log/fsck# cat checkfs Log of fsck -C -R -A -a -f Thu Mar 12 20:01:26 2009 fsck 1.40-WIP (14-Nov-2006) /dev/hda1: 29/62248 files (10.3% non-contiguous), 26653/248976 blocks /dev/mapper/lolcat-home: 10335/3866624 files (2.8% non-contiguous), 195711/7731200 blocks /dev/mapper/lolcat-tmp: 13/100352 files (15.4% non-contiguous), 22960/401408 blocks /dev/mapper/lolcat-usr: 74464/625248 files (0.3% non-contiguous), 494703/1250304 blocks /dev/mapper/lolcat-var: recovering journal /dev/mapper/lolcat-var: Deleted inode 97972 has zero dtime. error (device sd (8,2)): ext3_get_inode_Loc: unable to re ad inode block Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] Hope someone has seen this problem beside me and knows a fix: EXT3-fs error (device sd (8,2)): ext3_get_inode_Loc: unable to read inode block Error occurs about every four days or so and the system must be rebooted. Normal operation continues after reboot for a few more days. HDDs have been swapped out and OS reinstalled in some cases and the problem continues. Four PE2650's with same symptoms.
