I have been pulling my hair out over this for hours. I have had Dreamweaver CS3 installed on http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?647078-Strange-Problem-with-Dreamweaver-CS3-and-CS4 my computer for quite a while and have been using it to create many websites. I recently installed Dreamweaver CS4 and have started using it for some sites (while I'm learning some of the new features). Today I was using CS4 and I clicked on an image to upload (or "put) and I got this error message: "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connect to host. Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection information" Now, I have just uploaded several images and files within the last hour and have not changed anything - this just suddenly started happening without my changing anything. If I click on site > manage site > edit > Remote Info and click "Test" (without changing anything) it connects successfully right away. So I click "Done" and try again - same error message. The other strange thing that it is doing is when I am in Dreamweaver and I try to "Preview in Browswer", I get the same error message and then a browswer window opens (instead of opening the local file) and displays the wrong page. So I tried closing Dreamweaver CS4 and opening Dreamweaver CS3 and the same thing is happening there. One more strange thing, this is only happening to one of my websites. It seems (I admit I have only tested about a half dozen others) that all other sites are connecting fine. Anyone?? Nov 13, 2009,14:43 #2 paul_wilkins View Profile View Forum

I want to set up my account so I can create and edit my web pages in Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 on my home computer, then use Dreamweaver's FTP to upload them onto my domain for testing/hosting. I created an FTP account in cPanel with the following settings: FTP Username: fin7710@fin7710.x10hosting.com FTP Server: ftp.fin7710.x10hosting.com FTP Server Port: 21 SFTP Server Port: 22 According to cPanel, the directory is /home/fin7710/. Now, in Dreamweaver I fill out the FTP information as follows: Name: fin7710 Access Type: FTP FTP host: fin7710.x10hosting.com Host directory: /home/fin7710 Login: fin7710@fin7710.x10hosting.com Password: *********** URL Prefix: http://fin7710.x10hosting.com/home/fin7710/ The URL Prefix was filled out automatically based on the other input. There are also checkboxes for: -Use passive FTP -Use IPv6 transfer mode -Use firewall -Use Secure FTP (SFTP) I have tried all possible combinations of these check boxes, but I still get the following error: An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection information. I have also tried listing my login as just fin7710, but that doesn't work either. Can someone please tell me what is going on here. I have been trying to get this working for over 3 hours now. Please help! fin7710, Oct 6, 2009 fin7710, Oct 6, 2009 #1 diabolo Community Advocate Community Support Messages: 1,682 Likes Received: 32 Trophy Points: 48 try FTP HOST: ftp.fin7710.x10hosting.com LOGIN: fin7710 diabolo, Oct 6, 2009 diabolo, Oct 6, 2009 #2 fin7710 New Member Messages: 2 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 0 Nope, no go.
