The only difference between my other domain names and this one is that they were bought on bigrock and this dreamweaver ftp error access denied one was bought on godaddy. They're all hosted on hostinger. Any help? I don't know whats happening. the_loserkid 2014-08-07 14:38:12 UTC #2 The issue appears to have been resolved. When I used the ip address instead of the server username, it worked. Not sure why but replying just in case anybody has a similar issue. Dreamweaver Local Firewall Blocking Ftp Data
host cannot be found missytoe33 May 13, 2011 3:16 PM I am using CS4, XP, and Internet Explorer 7. I am having this error occur when testing my remote server connection. Every once in a while it works https://www.sitepoint.com/community/t/the-remote-host-cannot-be-found-dreamweaver/43985 but usually it doesn't. I can connect to my site just fine on Filezilla. I have made sure of the following:confirmed the information I am inputting is correctchecked "use passive FTP"Under Server Compatibility, I've unchecked "Use FTP peformance optimization"My firewall is port 21 but Dreamweaver CS4 has been allowed (and turning the firewall off doesn't help)Any other suggestions? I've already scoured this site and others for solutions but I haven't found anything beyond the items listed https://forums.adobe.com/thread/851965 above. Thanks! Re: Remote host cannot be found 370H55V May 13, 2011 3:28 PM (in response to missytoe33) Could be something as simple as a single character in the password. I've pulled out hair for days until I realized my mistake. If FileZilla can connect you obviously know the correct login info. Do a double check to be sure you didn't typo something in DW Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Remote host cannot be found Luerr2 May 25, 2011 8:02 PM (in response to missytoe33) After pulling my hair out on this same very issue (I have windows 7) I found this article...and realized this WHOLE time FTP server was not turned on my windows machine. See the link below and follow the instructions to turn on the FTP server (this may work even if it's not windows 7) but this is what happened to me.http://digitizor.com/2009/06/20/how-to-install-a-ftp-server-in-windows-7/ Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions Go to original post Actions More Like This Retrieving data ... The Remote Host Cannot Be Found. Before reading this.. http://www.webhostinghub.com/help/community/dreamweaver/dreamweaver-ftp-error-occurred please note that i am new to Dreamweaver, so if I'm not making scene you know why! I have looked into web hosting today, and have been given the details by TPG Internet (my ftp error internet provider) for my 30mb free web space.. I have entered all relevant details into Dreamweaver but unfortunately it keeps coming up with an error when I click “test” (AN FTP ERROR OCCURRED CANNOT MAKE CONNECTION TO HOST. THE REMOTE HOST CANNOT BE FOUND.) I thought that there must have been an error with the details which I put in.. so I called TPG and the details which they had dreamweaver ftp error given me were correct.. If anyone has any suggestions on what else i could be doing wrong i would greatly appreciate it dreamweaving View Public Profile Find More Posts by dreamweaving 05-21-2010, 05:07 AM #2 edbr Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Bali Posts: 10,350 in your remote connection in site definition have you selected passive ? __________________ If you're happy and you know it shake your meds! different style links examples Flight / Hotel search Free script download Bali Villas edbr View Public Profile Send a private message to edbr Find More Posts by edbr 05-23-2010, 11:36 PM #3 dreamweaving Join Date: May 2010 Posts: 3 Hello Edbr, Thanks for your reply! I have a domain and hosting, have completed my website on server and followed all the instructions I could find on connecting using FTP and I have no idea what's going wrong. I have also tried to use Filezilla instead of the Dreamweaver FTP and still not connecting. When I try to connect to the server with Dreamweaver I get the following message: "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. The remote host cannot be found." When trying to use Quickconnect in FileZilla I get "Error: Could not connect to server" I have tried adding FileZilla as an accepted program with my firewall, I've checked all of my login details, I've checked "Use Passive FTP" in Dreamweaver, I'm not sure what else I can do. I hope this makes sense as I'm a novice and not sure if I explained things properly! Any help would be extremely appreciated :) To ask this user for more information, please first login. If you're having trouble connecting with FTP I suggest trying to connect with the server IP address as host, using your cPanel username and password and port 21. I'll also link you to our FTP guide for alternate methods, but the above the connection method often gets the best results. Best, Christopher M.
