you've likely encountered a seemingly cryptic error message on your printer's display. These errors often seem to appear out of thin air, and are known for a proclivity to do so at the most inopportune of

moments. Instead of having to rely on emergency trips to FedEx Kinkos, become familiar with your printer and its vocabulary. In this blog we are going to explain what the HP 50.9 fuser error code means and how you can correct it.The 50.9 error code is one of the most common errors you will receive on an HP 3000,3600,3800,2700 or CP3505 series printer. This particular error code relates to the printer's fuser assembly and hp 3800 fuser indicates that the unit is either defective or not installed correctly. Any time you get a 50.9 fuser error on your HP printer, you should try turning the printer off, check that the fuser assembly is properly installed and then turn the power back on. This can sometimes completely remedy the issue, though typically this will provide only a temporary solution as the error is likely to return after printing a few more pages. When the error returns after turning it off, it's time to replace your fuser unit. The unfortunate truth is that fuser assemblies usually have a lesser lifespan than the printer. More often than not, you will go through several fuser assemblies throughout the lifespan of the printer itself. HP themselves estimate the average fuser is good for about 100,000 pages printed, but unfortunately fusers often fail sooner than that. Manufacturing defects and poor maintenance are a few things that can contribute to the premature failure of HP fuser assemblies.Office Link is a leading supplier and proponent of compatible fuser assemblies, maintenance kits and ink cartridges. Our compatible products are manufactured under the same set of strict standards as the OEM version, but are available at a much better price. The error is a result of the machine reading a low fuser temperature. Several things http://www.officelink-inc.com/What-does-the-dreaded-HP-509-Fuser-Error-Mean-Color-LaserJet-3000-3600-3800-CP3505-series-printers-Blog.html can happen to result in a 50.1 fuser error. First thing to check is the power source. Call HP or any other service and repair provider and they will recommend that you plug the machine straight into a wall outlet and to avoid power strips, surge arrest, and battery back ups. These machines use a lot of power. Plugging them into power strips with other devices can draw the http://www.fortwayneprinterrepair.com/wordpress/2011/11/06/hp-color-laserjet-3000-3600-3800-and-cp3505-50-1-fuser-error/ voltage down throughout the circuit. While it might not affect other devices these machines have thermistors in them that measure the temperature of the fuser. If the temperature falls out of range the machine will throw you a 50.1 fuser error code. Second thing to check is the fuser itself. The fuser is easy to remove and replace so pull the fuser out and reseat it to verify that it's properly seated. Third thing to try is just turning the machine off and back on to see if it comes up to its proper temperature. Sudden power outages are known to cause odd problems like this. Finally, turn the machine off and unplug it for 10 to 20 minutes. This allows the HP color laserjet 3000, 3600, 3800, and CP3505 to reach a cold state. This can clear out any error codes stuck in the machines memory and let it go through its normal start-up mode if it previously wasn't.Hewlett Packard Color Laserjet Fuser RM1-2763-020See larger imageImportant, Please Read Free Prepaid Return Shipping labels are included! the printer was still printing although the fuser was down to 2\% life.I ordered a new fuser unit and when arrived i installed and powered on. I tried to print a test page but there was a loud pop from the back of the printer and the 50.1 fuser error was displayed. Thinking this could be a faulty fuser i put the old (But working) fuser back in but the same error was displayed. When i opened the printer up i noticed one of the ceramic fuses on the bottom board (Near the power with a black mark on it) had blown. I replaced this and put the printer back together. I powered on with the old fuser still in but now am faced with a 50.9 fuser error.Looking where the electrical fuser / printer connections are i noticed one of the connectors is slightly melted on the printer side, probably happened just before the fuse blew. Im pretty sure the connection should be made as it was not too badly melted.Anyone have any ideas what to do / check next? Thanks in advance,John Respond to this 0 Hi everyone. Still a little stuck with this. Have removed the PCB's and have not found any blown components etc... Any ideas? by Anonymous on Jun 5, 2007 at 7:24am Add comment Please sign in to comment the fault is definately the power supply board rk2 0157 depending on 110v or 240v. The component is a BCR8KM (Triac or driver l think)this goes down and blows the 8 amp fuse. I have the same fault but cannot find someone to supply this component so at present you will need to fit the complete board, if l find a supplier l will let you know however l am in the UK and l assume you are in the states so you need 110volt power supply rk2 0157. Hope this helps and if you can find a supplier for this component please let me knowroger - stobby2 0 Replace the PCB that has the blown fuse on it and get a new fuser.Where did you get the fuser that caused all the problems? You might be able to get the supplier to replace the board, or at least sell you one cheap.I suspect that you need:RK2-0157-000CN Power Supply : Low Voltage power supply - Located on bottom left side of printer - 110 volt That part is the same in a CLJ 3500, you might be able to get a wole unit for the same price:http://search.ebay.comThe 3500 uses the same fuser as a 3550, and probably most of the parts other than the formatter are the same. by Stephe
