HP LaserJet 8100 and 8150 series printers part numbers: RG5-4357, RG5-4300, C4265-69006, C4214-69020 The LaserJet 8100 and 8150 series printers are notorious for the Low Voltage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pta0UZoKzQY Power Supplies (LVPS) failure. Because of high failure rates, we actually replace these power supplies in every LaserJet 8100 and 8150 series printer we rebuild. If the LVPS has gone bad, you will usually see a 50.1 fuser error on your display. In some rare cases a 50.1 error will mean a low http://www.printertechs.com/printer-troubleshooting/334-50-1-fuser-error-8100-8150 fuser temperature and your fuser has failed, but our experience has shown that the vast majority -- at least 85% -- of the time it is the LVPS. Here's a fast test to confirm the power supply is really the problem: if you can, borrow a working fuser from another 8100/8150 printer and swap out your fuser. If the 50.1 error does not go away with a working fuser in place, you need to replace the Low Voltage Power Supply. Click here to order a replacement low voltage power supply. The 50.1 fuser error fuser error means the thermistors inside the fuser have sent a signal to the DC controller that the temperature inside the fuser is to low to properly bond the toner to the paper. To avoid print quality and paper jam issues the machine shuts down and displays the error on the control panel. First thing to try is turning the machine off and 50.1 fuser error back on. Second is to verify the machine is plugged straight into a wall outlet and not a power strip or battery back up. Finally, turn the machine off and let it sit 10 to 20 minutes. This step allows the machines boards to discharge so if an error code has stuck in the machines memory this will allow it to clear itself. If all else fails then reseating it could resolve the issue. Below is the instructions to perform this action. HP Color LJ 4700, 4730, and CP4005 OEM Fuser RM1-3131-000, Q7502A Removal1. Turn the printer off. 2. Open the top cover. 3. Fuser Error Code 50.1: Low fuser temperature 50.2: Fuser warm-up service 50.3: High fuser temperature 50.4: Faulty fuser 50.5: Inconsistent fuser (verify voltage model) Service Manual Recommended Action Turn the printer off for at least 20 minutes, and then turn the printer on. If the error continues: 1. Make sure that the Fusing Assembly is installed correctly and is fully seated into its connectors (no bent pins or pins outside their receptacles). 2. Reseat or replace the fuser cable assembly. 3. Replace the DC Controller. Additional Comments & Diagnosis 50.1 indicates low fuser temperature (heating lamp will not turn on). Power supply is the most common cause. (RG5-4357) Pull the fuser out and check the thermal fuse on top of the fuser and the lamps inside the unit for continuity to verify the problem isn’t in the fuser. If the printer fails to initialize when turned and displays "warming up" or if it just jumps to 50.1 error, those are indications that you have a power supply problem. After verifying the problem is related to the AC power supply, check the fuser for common wear and tear in case the fuser also needs to be replaced. When checking the fuser: Check the middle of the hot roller for toner build up that could cause ghosting or poor print quality. Check the pressure roller and gears for signs of wear. Check the bushing by rotating the gears on the side of the unit. The gears should rotate smoothly. If the bushings are worn you will typically notice: (1) Metal shavings that fall out as you're checking the unit, and (2) a jerky feeling as you rotate the gears. If you experience any of the above issues with the fuser replacement it (RG5-6532) along with the power supply. Power Supply Removal in the HP 8100 and 8150 AC Access Cover 1.
