If the server's value is lower than the client's value, this error occurs. You will need to set max_allowed_packet in the [mysqld] section of /etc/my.cnf to complete the operation. For more information, see the MySQL documentation. share|improve this answer answered Jan 31 '13 at 20:40 Michael Hampton♦ 122k19206415 how can I see inside of mysql what this variable equals too now? –alexus Jan 31 '13 at 20:41 SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'max_allowed_packet'; –Michael Hampton♦ Jan 31 '13 at 20:45 thank you so much! –alexus Jan 31 '13 at 21:17 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
