Please note that this is Mint 17 w/Mate desktop and I installed the Opera browser manually when I first installed mint 17 because Opera wasn't part of the repositories at the time. Seems that in the past week the Opera key has gone kaput and I'm getting this error on not only Mint 17, but in Ubuntu 14.04 as well with Opera. Code: W: GPG error: http://deb.opera.com stable InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 517590D9A8492E35 NO_PUBKEY 63F7D4AFF6D61D45 I uninstalled Opera via Synaptic then ran update in terminal and still got this error. Found out that Opera-Next is available in the repositories now so I installed that via Synaptic and after reboot still

I installed Linux Mint 17 with mate desktop in a virtual machine. After the installation, I wanted to update the packages but after running apt-get update I get the following error: E: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com trusty Release: The following signatures were gpg error mint invalid: NODATA 2 The solutions I found in http://askubuntu.com/questions/104213/gpg-invalid-signature did not solve it. I think the problem is that the computer is behind a proxy. I tried all the different proxy settings, but the error still exists. Thanks linux apt-get gnupg mint share|improve this question asked Jun 10 '14 at 9:56 alex 445 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote I found the solution myself :) first you have to comment out the repositories, that are not working (trusty-main, trusty-updates and trusty-security) then you can update the remaining packages After that you have to find a mirror that is working for the above repositories (the german gwdg server worked for me) After you added the corresponding repositories, you can update the remaining programs. apparently it is important to first update the other packages before you update the ones from the above repositories. share|improve this answer answered Jun 10 '14 at 13:48 alex 445 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Emai
