Operating System. The latest known version of Ca-main.exe is 1.0, which was produced for Windows 7. This EXE file carries a popularity rating of 1 stars and a security rating of "UNKNOWN". What http://grandchasereborn.com/forum/index.php?/topic/14920-unfixable-mainexe-error/ Are EXE Files? EXE ("executable") files, such as ca-main.exe, are files that contain step-by-step instructions that a computer follows to carry out a function. When you "double-click" an EXE file, your computer automatically executes these instructions designed by a software developer (eg. Windows Software Developer) to run a program (eg. Third-Party Application) on your PC.Every software application on your PC uses an executable file - your web browser, http://www.solvusoft.com/en/files/error-virus-removal/exe/windows/windows-software-developer/third-party-application/ca-main-exe/ word processor, spreadsheet program, etc. - making it one of the most useful kinds of files in the Windows operating system. Without executable files like ca-main.exe, you wouldn't be able to use any programs on your PC. Why Do I Have EXE Errors? Because of their usefulness and ubiquity, EXE files are commonly used as a method of delivery for virus / malware infection. Often, viruses will be disguised as a benign EXE file (such as ca-main.exe) and distributed through SPAM email or malicious websites, which can then infect your computer when executed (eg. when you double-click the EXE file). In addition, viruses can infect, replace, or corrupt existing EXE files, which can then lead to error messages when Third-Party Application or related programs are executed. Thus, any executable files that you download to your PC should be scanned for viruses before opening - even if you think it is from a reputable source. When Do EXE Errors Occur? EXE errors, such as those associated with ca-main.exe, most often occur during computer startup, program startup, or while trying to use a specific function in your program (eg. printing). XP user compatibility issues « on: March 08, 2015, 04:26:27 PM » OK so here's my problem.I am on Windows XP SP3 and I have both the origin and XWIS versions of YR installed. I have run the cncnet installer to both installations. I can join the CnCnet lobby fine. However, when i try to start a game through cncnet i get a main.exe error (skirmish and online). Both versions load up fine outside of cncnet but i had to change the executables to compatibility mode for Windows 98 to stop the main.exe error. After some troubleshooting, we discovered that changing the game.dat file to gamemd.exe and setting compatibility to windows 98 also allowed us to launch the game with no error. Problem is i cant change the game.dat file to compatibility mode for windows 98 without changing the file extension (the compatibility tab doesn't exist) and it is needed as .dat to start the game through cncnet (i assume).Grant has contacted someone for a workaround, but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas? Maybe i haven't explained it very well but any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess i am the first (known) person to encounter this problem as there probably aren't many still using XP?! XP user compatibility issues « Reply #1 on: March 09, 2015, 01:18:43 AM » Unfortunately Windows only allows easy setting of compatibility parameters (via the file properties dialog) for files which have the extension *.exe, thus it's indeed not obvious how to accomplish this for executable code which resides within a file with another extension (such as game.dat in this particular case). The necessary registry entry needs to be made either direct
