But these are the errors I'm getting in the System event log after logging in: The assignment of application XStandard from policy install failed. The error was : %%1274 The removal of the assignment of application XStandard from policy install failed. The error was : %%2 Failed to apply changes http://serverfault.com/questions/44257/group-policy-installation-failed-error-1274 to software installation settings. The installation of software deployed through Group Policy for this user has been delayed until the next logon because the changes must be applied before the user logon. The error was : %%1274 The Group Policy Client Side Extension Software Installation was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup or user logon. The system will wait for Group Policy processing to finish completely before the next startup or logon for this user, and this may result in slow startup and boot performance. When I reboot and log in again I simply get the same messages about needing to perform the update before the next logon. I'm on a Windows Vista 32-bit laptop. I'm rather new to deploying via group policy so what other information would be helpful in determining the issue? I tried a different MSI with the same results. I'm able to install the MSI using the command line and msiexec when logged into the computer, so I know the MSI is working ok at least. active-directory group-policy msi share|improve this question asked Jul 22 '09 at 20:13 David Thomas Garcia 281149 add a comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 47 down vote accepted You're seeing the drea
a GPO is Failing to be Applied You have created a GPO but it's not being applied. You look in the Windows Application Event Log and see entries such as: The user ‘EULA' preference item in https://www.puryear-it.com/determine-why-a-gpo-is-failing-to-be-applied the ‘Software - Adobe Reader 10 {D7ECF9A8-2E3D-4CC4-AC5D-29089E76913C}' Group Policy object did not apply because https://helgesverre.com/blog/libreoffice-msi-gpo-error/ it failed with error code ‘0x800700a1 The specified path is invalid.' This error was suppressed. Solution The best way to figure this out is to create a HTML file using gpresult to show you the issue. Log into the target machine. Run the following command: C:> gpresult -h C:GP_result.html
In XP, you may need to use: C:> gpresult group policy > GP_result.txt After a minute or two, you'll find a new file C:GP_result.html. Double-click on the HTML file to open it in your web browser. As we can see, there are a variety of errors on various GPO's. And, in fact, some GPO's are listed by their alphanumeric ID, meaning they are invalid at this point. Getting the report is only half the battle of course. You need to review and debug each failed to open of the reasons the GPO application was denied. To begin, read the Microsoft article on the issue of GPO's being denied. Logging In... I recently had problems deploying LibreOffice on Windows Server 2008 R2 due to an error I got that said "The add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run the package validation to check if it is correct.". For system administrators or people like me who want to fuck around with Windows Server in a Virtual environment, this is not a very nice error to come by when we are testing out stuff or want to deploy Open Office to our users. Anyways… The cause of this seems to be that the MSI has too multiple language codes defined in the MSI package, which causes Windows to think that the MSI is "invalid" because MSI packages does actually NOT support multiple languages… I think, that is what I figured according to the developer who didn't want to fix it in this bug report anyways… So here is how you fix it: Step by Step If you want to patch the MSI by yourself, you can follow these steps. Download the latest MSI from LibreOffice ( here ) Download SuperOrca from THIS website. Install it by spamming next next next ok a few times. Open SuperOrca File -> Open -> Select the LibreOffice MSI you downloaded previously. Click on Tools -> Summary Information… In the field called "Languages", remove all the numbers in there EXCEPT 1033. Now, click on Apply. Now click on File-> Save as, save it to whatever folder you want Now it might seem like the program is freezing or crashing, but it's not, it's basically writing 130 MB of data to the location that you specified, which is going to take a few seconds, but it does this in a "blocking mo
