It's definitely a permissions problem, the issue is _what_ permissions for "who"... I ran across of those links yesterday in my search. Unfortunately, that TechNet article for Event ID 1055 doesn't have anything at all listed for Error Code: 5 and the blog entry only addresses the permissions for a specific user. My problem was with the DC not having access to read it's own (and other) computer policies. The permissions for "ENTERPRISE DOMA

Open up GPMC and go to Group Policy Objects. Then left click on your GPO giving the accessed denied message. Click on delegation and remove all security groups. Then add back Domain admins (giving full control). If this works, you can then add back the security groups/users needing read/apply GPO 0 LVL 21 Overall: Level 21 Windows Server 2008 12 Active Directory 9 Message Expert Comment by:motnahp002012-04-10 Do you have appropriate permissions under the delegation tab for your applicable GPO? 0 LVL 17 Overall: Level 17 Windows Server 2008 6 Active Directory 4 Message Expert Comment by:Anuroopsundd2012-04-10 try to di

I am RDP'd to my domain controller which is Windows Server 2008 32 bit (Virtualized) and there is a shortcut on the desktop for Group Policy Management. When I click it, I get a dialogue box titled Group Policy Management Console that says "Access is denied." When I try to go through Administrative tolls I get the same error. The kicker is I am logged into the box as Administrator. Ideas? You shouldn't have to RDP to a server except on rare occasions. 0 Tabasco OP GregBriggs Feb 27, 2014 at 5:43 UTC I'll download that and take a look at it. We also have a secondary domain controller and I can open group policy from that with no issue.
