It sometimes takes up to 15 to https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd393232(v=ws.10).aspx 20 minutes for printers to show up. If another user logs onto the same machine it takes the same amount of time, if either users logs onto another WIN7 PC it goes through the same process again. This obviously won't work in staff room environments where, a user may only log on for 3 minutes to check emails and print attachments. There are three servers running, 2 x Server 2003, and 1 x Server 2008 where we have Group Policy Print https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/206761-group-policy-printers-not-installing-straight-away Management . The primary server is the 2003 box and the secondary one is the 2008 box. Could the long waits between printers showing up be because the computer is talking to the server 2003 box and not picking up all it's windows 7 preferences from the 2008 box? Alternatively if anyone can recommend a good printer install script I am happy to go back to that as our batch script works really well on XP just not so on WIN7. Solved Vanishing printers on 2008 R2 RDS Posted on 2012-01-23 Windows Server 2008 Printers and Scanners 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 2,415 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-12 We have a 2008 R2 DC that has been used to distribute printers using Print Management deploying through GPO. They have been set up for some time. There are 2x 2008 R2 Servers as Remote Desktop (terminal) servers. They are both in the same AD OU and have the same GPO's applied to them. The printers for these servers are deployed at the computer rather than user level. Today it has been noticed that one of the servers is lacking the majority of the printers (2 are showing up out of a possible 11). The other server is completely fine. Group Policy Results Wizard tells me that they should both be getting all of the printers ok. I have confirmed with a user who was working yesterday that the printers were all present and correct at that time, 20 hours ago. Since then, overnight, while nobody was doing anything with an PC's or servers, nothing has changed except that the printers are no longer present on this one server. There is nothing to indicate the cause of the problem on the event viewer of the Terminal Server. The DC that is distributing the printers does however indicate the following: "Group Policy was unable to add per computer connection \\
