Technote (troubleshooting) This document applies only to the following http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21608428 language version(s): English Problem(Abstract) If TIP is on a https://www.sepusa.com/getwiki/Troubleshooting_Guide separate server than the ITNM core and ncp_crypt, this gives a procedure to decrypt and encrypt the database password. The tnm.properties file is used for accessing the database from the GUI. Environment TIP on it's own server Resolving the groupwise error problem $NCHOME/precision/profiles/TIPProfile/etc/tnm/tnm.properties file contains the database password. If tnm.database.password.encrypted=true then tnm.database.password= is the encrypted password It might becomes necessary to test the validity of this password. Save the tnm.properties file to tnm.propertiesgood Change tnm.database.password.encrypted=true to =false Change tnm.database.password= to be the plain text password you believe is correct. Wait groupwise error 21 60 seconds, or restart TIP. Try connecting to hopview or network view in the gui. If a message is seen that says 'unable to access database', then the password is wrong. To correct the password and to encrypt again the password, change Change tnm.database.password.encrypted=false to =true Administration Network Database Access Configuration Setting a password here, and hitting 'save' icon will encrypt the password you enter to the tnm.properties file. If 'Unable to access database' is still seen, then the problem is not encryption, but the correct password is not in the file.
