the fields I listed are enough to build the user object. As for the top line, I included that purely as an aid to identifying what is going in. The line in http://ngwlist.com/pipermail/ngw/1999-June/014291.html the config file FirstLine=0 equates to the checkbox in the import screen "skip the first line http://ngwlist.com/pipermail/ngw/1999-June/014156.html of the import file". HTH Ralph Lock GroupWise/Network Admin British Standards (0181 996 7867) >>> "Jeff R. Miller" 06/18 6:10 pm >>> I can't get this thing to go. If I choose the NDS/Groupwise option, it tells me that I have to select ALL fields. If I choose the GW only option, it bombs out with a error groupwise error about invalid character. Can you help? I need specifics on what exactly I need to have in the import files, and what I don't actually need. Do I need to have the top line in the import.txt file that has the names of the fields? Also, I don't have a "surname" field. I have a "ngw: surname" field, but this is different than the .cfg you posted. Novell is less than helpful on this in the groupwise error 8561 documentation.... >>> "Ralph Lock" 06/18/99 02:37AM >>> The import works just fine without going through the 4.x routine specified in tid 2931246. Just make _absolutely_ sure that you have a copy of the Userxxx.db file to drop in once everything has settled down. You will also probably find that you get a message about the user not existing in the guardian database if you try to rush things. Once you've imported as per my previous posting, you can drop the userxxx.db file back over the top of the newly-created one. It works for me. Cheers Ralph Lock GroupWise/Network Admin British Standards (0181 996 7867) >>> "Jeff R. Miller" 06/17 7:27 pm >>> Actually you can force a file ID in 5.2, but it's done by creating (or using if you have one already) a 4.1 domain. There's a TID on it. You export a user to get the proper syntax, then fill in the fields with the info you want and import into the 4.1, while specifying the 5.2 domain as the location of the user object. >>> "Laurie Baker" 06/17/99 04:51AM >>> You can't force a FID in 5.2, you need either 4.1a or 5.5 to do that. If you copied all userxxx.db files as well as the message and offiles directories, they should have had their m
[ author ] Er, you mean that just doesn't work? :) The original poster might wish to consult TID2939365 to see how a gw5x post office move should happen. I might also suggest calling novell tech support if your user's email/job (the two are identical at many of my clients) is on the line. They might be able to help you fix your post office. Another tip. The groupwise admin guides can be found at www.novell.com/documentation, and all those error codes are described.. -Jason Rivard >>> "Danita Zanrè" 06/16 10:18 PM >>> Mary, We started discussing this on the Novell forums, but I've been SICK . When you say you moved an entire post office, can you explain exactly what you did? Just ncopy the directory structure and change the path in NetWare Administrator? Danita >>> "Mary Troglen" 06/16/99 07:11PM >>> I recently moved an entire postoffice to a new location and all users lost their mail. We copied over all userXX.db files to the new ofuser directory then received an 8561 error which changed later to a c00F. I am attempting to move the users back to the original postoffice but it's not looking too good. I see error after error on the POA (c00F). If you have any suggestions I'd be forever grateful. Also, just in case, does anyone know how to force an FID when creating a new user? We are currently GroupWise 5.2 TIA, Mary Previous message: Help!
