According to my copy of the DVD this file is in hl25.cab!! Anyone any ideas? dan13l16-11-2004, 12:33I just posted in the other thread, didn't see this one. I've downloaded mine on Steam, but my dad has just phoned me because he gets the same error... The SteamPowered.Com forums are down at the moment, so can't check on there...I'll keep digging and see what I can find. It could, of course, be a bad disc? Where did yours come from? bumfrog16-11-2004, 12:41you could try copying the install files drom the dvd to the hard drive and running it from there.... karellen16-11-2004, 12:42Got it from PCWorld. I have found another mention of the same problem in another forum but he has not replied how he actually fixed it - hl2.ico1 error (http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=51445) ShakeyJake16-11-2004, 12:43If you have a fast connection maybe you could put in the cd key in the "Register a product I already own..." thing, then download the files off steam dan13l16-11-2004, 12:47That thread has a bit more info in now - looks like you need to install CS:Source as well, otherwise it doesn't work... karellen16-11-2004, 12:54Just read that new info: I had also unticked the CS:Source installation. Reinstalling now....................... *fingers crossed* EDIT: Sorted - waiting on Steam now. dan13l16-11-2004, 12:58*fingers crossed* Do let us know how it goes :) Good luck! LeftHandedGuitarist16-11-2004, 13:08I had exact same problem, re-installed with Counter Strike selected and all worked well. Now I entered my CD key and got a pop up message saying: "Your subscription to Half Life 2 Retail Standard has not been completed, because Steam servers are currently unable to process the transaction.

Hello, all. First time posting here. Here's my dilemma... I've just received HL2 for X-mas today. I've tried to install it twice so far. Every time I get to CD #4, I get an error message, and the entire installation process is cancelled. Here's what's keeping me from enjoying my game: "Error 1334. http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/showthread.php?52657-Installation-Issue-file-hl2-ico1-can-t-be-installed The file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file can't be found in cabinet file 'hl24.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package." Okay, the CD's are all clean as a whistle. My CD-ROM drive is perfectly fine, too. I looked for the hl24 file on CD #4 and found a zip file of the same name; inside I found that it contained stuff for CounterStrike. When I was doing the installation setup, I told it that I didn't want CS installed (I'm a tad tight for hard disk space). As far as I know, that shouldn't be the cause of my problems... Any suggestions/threads that I could be directed to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all, and happy merry Christma-Hannu-Kwanza! 26-12-2004,08:02 AM #2 Jen View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Moderator Join Date Dec 2004 Location Auckland Posts 8,055 Re: Installation Issue: file 'hl2.ico1' can't be installed... A lot of retail owners of Half Life 2 are half life 2 expierencing several errors. People think its their CPU, or windows XP configuration (eg SP2). If you contact Valve or goto their web site there are lot's of new posts for these errors. One good reason to have steam installed is that it automatically updates your software to avoid these problems. One instance was when I got an installation error 1334. The cab was currupt blah blah blah... -------------------- To fix the 1334 error specifically - install steam (make an account, or log into your exhisting one). Run the installation, now do a FULL install of both HL2 AND CS (Install everything). I saw a thread to de-select adding a desktop icon and that would fix the 1334 but this was not true. Repete the installation. IF IT FAILES AGAIN!!: Close steram if open and restart it! Then repete the installation (just do a full install again). I found this to resolve COMPLETELY my 1334 error. YAY! I got to disk 5. I tried this and it works! So what happened? Steam initiates an update (you dont see) running it that second time. This patches several files. va-la! Damn valve for not fixing this earlyer! If you need more help goto valves web site. -DAVE Reply With Quote 12-25-2004,01:01 PM #2 F!reStr!fe

If so, you may need to uninstall/disable those first.[8F] The NyQuil Kid · actions · 2005-Jan-24 10:05 am · (locked) NYR11Livestrongjoin:2002-03-15Stony Brook, NY NYR11 Member 2005-Jan-24 10:20 am Yes I have Alcohol 120%. I did a Google search for that error and it said that you need to install both HL2 and Counter Strike source to avoid the error issue. I was disabling the CS install. I'm in the process of installing again. Let's see what happens. If I have similar problems I'll have to disable the virtual drive that Alcohol 120% creates. I'll let you know. Have others had problems with Alcohol? · actions · 2005-Jan-24 10:20 am · (locked) NYR11 NYR11 Member 2005-Jan-24 10:39 am That was the problem. You need to install both. I think that is BS because I don't think I will ever play CS.
