First computer specs: pentium 4 2,8 gigaherz 64 mb nvidia geforce 4 mx 4000 512 mb ram 80 gigabyte and 45 gigabyte hardrive windows xp home edition nu dvdrw ddw-081 Philips cdrw 1610a LAN internet http://www.valvetime.net/threads/error-1335-please-help.55646/ connection It is a bought european-dvd version When the first time i installed the game it didn't work i installed the game on my parents computer which hasn't got better specs, where it DID work. So nothing wrong with the disc So i tried to install it again on my pc.Well i got steam installed, made a account. And then it starts to install the rest of the game. Well it suppose to happen, but this is what i get every time: Error 1335.The cabinet file hl2.cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used, this could be a network error, an error reading from the cd-rom or a problem with this package. Problem with this package is ruled out cause it worked on an other computer. Then i build my dad's dvd player (which worked on his computer) into my computer. It didn't work on my pc. The network can't be the problem either. Someone got answers or the same problem? Please respond to this urgent call with regards #1 fbertling, Nov 23, 2004 Half-alife Guest thats almost a 1337 error now, caus you have the retail DVD, uninstall steam first, then install the game... should work fine then, it will install steam automaticly... just dont forget

Ive woned two copies http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/519712-my-answer-to-error-1335-Data1-cab-messages-Forums of HL2. Both copies were on CD's and they both give me the same crap each time. i'll be installin disk one, a few minutes into instaling it'll say " Copying new filesBas source models .gcf" ...and so on.However, as io always reach this point, it'll pop up with "Error 1335, the abinet file "hl2.cab" required for installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, half life an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."so that's been killing me. what should I do?I've searched online for soltions but all that i've found, and this also came on a little note in the package was to install both hlf2 and c.s. due to some misplaced files, but i honeslty don't know how to do that either. if anyone can think back to the installtion screen and tell me how to choose both to install, i'd greatly appreciate it. up to this half life 2 point, ive ony played the demo but i would realy like to play this full on. thanks Back to top Report #2 thatsteveguy thatsteveguy enthusiast Members 310 posts Posted 12 August 2005 - 09:24 PM Most times when i get errors like that during an install it indicates you have an issue with your RAM. does your comp have one stick or two?. if you have two then take one out and try again if it fails one more time then switch the stick of ram for the other one and try again. If you only have one stick in the computer then see if you can borrow some as it would be a pain to buy some only to have the issue again and I don't want to make you spend money for a fix that might not work. try that first and also if you can provide more details as to your system specs, IE mobo video card Os etctxsS Back to top Report #3 indierocker774 indierocker774 stranger Members 2 posts Posted 14 August 2005 - 12:34 AM it's not my RAM. it' a known issue for HL2 users, i just can't seem to find a solution. Everyone says select both cs and hl2 to install but i just dont see that option. my systems fine. i just must need some serious help. I just finished helping my friend to build a pc specifically to play silent hunter 3. Interesting watching someone spend that much money to play a game, especially since he's big on Apple and thinks all things Microsoft are evil...lol. Anyway, we put it together only to watch him have a royal meltdown when he got the following during install: "error 1355. The cabinet file"Data1.cab" required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used". Once you get this you get 3 options, retry, cancel and ignore...i think. If you hit one (retry I think) it just keeps failing, hit cancel an it's over, but hit ignore and I believe we got an "internal error 2350" followed by an "error: -1603 fatal error during install". We searched through this entire site and found some very interesting answers which unfortunately never worked. The biggest of these was the thought that a new disk might be flawed or that a DVD ROM may be dirty. None of these were the case with us. I ran a google search on this error and found tons of people having the same problem with intensive programs (memory hogs). You guys are not the only ones out there. It's hard to believe that all these people are getting flawed disks and we knew the DVD ROM wasn't dirty because it was new out of the box. There are so many things to try out there, so if what I suggest don't work, try googling a search for yourselves and see what does work. Don't give up. Some people out there thought it might be a memory problem. Though my friend put in a gig and a half of RAM we wanted to be sure it wasn't the RAM DIMMS. I took the DIMMS out of my pc and installed them in his...no help. Mind you we tried this after 5 hours of trying the various tips I spoke of. So I tried fudging with the settings. BINGO!! Again I tried this only on XP, I can't remember how to do this with other versions. Do the following: 1- click "Start" 2- click "RUN" 3- type "msconfig" in the box and click "OK" 4- select "BOOT.INI"
