First computer specs: pentium 4 2,8 gigaherz 64 mb nvidia geforce 4 mx 4000 512 mb ram 80 gigabyte and 45 gigabyte hardrive windows xp home edition nu dvdrw ddw-081 Philips cdrw 1610a LAN internet connection It is a bought european-dvd version When the first time i installed the game it didn't work i installed the game on my parents computer which hasn't got better specs, where it DID http://www.valvetime.net/threads/error-1335-please-help.55646/ work. So nothing wrong with the disc So i tried to install it again on my pc.Well i got steam installed, made a account. And then it starts to install the rest of the game. Well it suppose to happen, but this is what i get every time: Error 1335.The cabinet file hl2.cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used, this could be a network error, an error reading from the cd-rom or a problem with this package. Problem with this package is ruled out cause it worked on an other computer. Then i build my dad's dvd player (which worked on his computer) into my computer. It didn't work on my pc. The network can't be the problem either. Someone got answers or the same problem? Please respond to this urgent call with regards #1 fbertling, Nov 23, 2004 Half-alife Guest thats almost a 1337 error now, caus you have the retail DVD, uninstall steam first, then install the game... should work fine then, it will install steam automaticly... just dont forget your password to login again... #2 Half-alife, Nov 23, 2004 All_Steamed_Out Guest I had that same problem. Between Steam and Half-Life2, I spent over 3 1/2 hours trying to get them installed. What a nightmare. One (of many) of my problems was the one you describe. The fact it installs in the other machine all makes sense. I would get it at various point in the install

I did a search of my PC and found 4 "data1.cab"s. 1 under adobe acrobat and 3 under different "installshield installation information" folders... Started by Guest_MikeMartial_* , Apr 24 2005 06:14 PM Please log in to reply 3 replies to this topic #1 Guest_MikeMartial_* Guest_MikeMartial_* Guests Posted 24 April 2005 - 06:14 PM Hello! Recently, I've started getting CRC errors while trying to install new software from CD-ROM; I've tried troubleshooting myself, but I've come to a dead end. I've: reformatted, bought a new CD-RW, virus/spyware/adware scanned my brains out, and tried everything including from copying the CD contents to HD. Initially, I thought it may be the media itself, but even some of my old games won't install. Half-Life 2: I an "Error 1335" Star Wars KOTORII(brand new): CRC error Manhunt: Initially, an Error 1335, but installed after I bought a new CD-RW. And ideas what can cause a CRC error other than the media or media device? Running: WinXp AMD Athalon 2700+ @2.1 gHz 1.5 GB RAM ATI Raedon 9700pro SB Audigy Plat Gigabyte MB Thank for your replies! -Mike- Back to top #2 Bear Bear Mentally Deficient, Morally Corrupt & Socially Unfit NiceGuy Advanced Member 12,787 posts Gender:Male Posted 24 April 2005 - 06:27 PM Are these originals, copys or downloads? That was my question too.. CRC stands for cyclic redundancy check. A CRC is computed and appended before transmission or storage, and verified afterwards to confirm that no changes occurred. So either this original cd is corrupted or you are using a copied game that didnt copy over properly either due to copy protection set by the game manufacturer or some kind of a problem that occured during the burning of the cd.
